Anyone using the Flightscope Mevo +?

I think I asked this before in another launch monitor thread, but do you need the metallic dots if you are hitting outdoors into a net?

Outdoors at range: Not needed

Indoors into net: Needed (or highly recommended)

Outdoors into net: ??

 

I think people are answering this based upon the Mevo and not the Mevo+, but I assume the answer would be the same.

It’s the distance to the net that matters. If you’re hitting “outdoors” to a net 8ft away, you’re still better off using the silver stickers. Again, the silver dot is just for more accurate spin rate. I usually don’t use it even at 8ft.

Outdoors into a net = indoors in a net. No difference. It’s about the limited flight of hitting “indoors”.

Just a quick post, 3am, been doing this for 5 hours by myself. Never thought I could stretch the cloth and put the frame up without extra hands. Not done but looking pretty cool already.

So the only thing I did differently from the link I posted earlier is using double conduits on the sides. I tried to piece everything together in my mind before ordering the parts, and it turned out great for the most part. The double sides gives a cleaner look because the screen material attaches to the outer pipe so you have less “leak” on the sides. The inner pipe’s sole purpose is for attaching the foam insulation wrap.

I would actually double up on the top pipe too if I were to do it again. The top pipe attaches a lot of things (screen, top black cloth, and a secondary material to absorb impact). It’s a mess trying to attach everything and leave enough space for a clean foam wrap.

Here is what I had to do for the secondary impact material (cheap 8x10 heavy duty tarp from Home Depot). I couldn’t get it to hang on the top pipe so I just zip tied it lower. It’ll probably be ok since most shots won’t hit 9ft high from 8ft away.

@Kcct82 Looks great!! Not sure what hitting mat you have, but some people will put down a 1" thick foam tile below their hitting mat to possibly protect against wrist/elbow type injuries.

Question.

Why did you install it with the rear facing the garage instead of rear facing the interior garage wall?

I love the build! If you dont have a mat yet. Do yourself a favor and get a fiberbuilt. I had a Country Club elite and my wrist, elbow, and shoulder took a beating.

@wildcatden Good call, I actually started doing that a couple of weeks ago when my kid mentioned how hard the ground felt. I tried it with and without today and the difference was huge. These tiles don’t bounce, so they absorb the impact quite well. @jj9000 If this installation becomes permanent, then the projector would be hanging from the ceiling. If I did it the other way round, opening the garage door would hit the projector.@TripleBogeysrbetter Thanks, I’ll keep fiberbuilt in mind. It all depends on how long we’re gonna be stuck indoors. As far as I know (not much), the only simulation software available for flightscope is E6 ($2500). Do you know any cheaper options? It wouldn’t hurt to play some virtual golf since I already have this setup.

TGC 2019 is available for Mevo + TGC 2019 Simulator Software

Not alot of Mevo+ licenses as of yet so you might be able to get 30% off with that deal as well.

Its available for both @Kcct82 please see their icon I posted above in comment #39 from yesterday. Never played E6 so I cant compare, but with a price tag they're charging I know I will never even try. :-)

TGC 2019 is awesome. It has some kinks, but the online community is great.

I got one in February before the lockdowns. I've had it for less than two months and it is already not functional. When I press the power button, it tries to turn itself on, but it unsuccessful and shuts itself off. Totally frustrating!

A little update on the cage. I bought 5/16 set screws to replace the eye bolts. Looks cleaner and I can wrap the foam insulation around the pipes better.
