Garmin/Bushnell

I've been looking for a new gps device and both the Garmin Approach G10 and the Bushnell Phantom GPS have caught my eye. I used to have a rangefinder and I found it to be cumbersome and just wasn't fond of it. I'm not crazy about watches cause I don't like the feeling while swinging. Has anyone ever tried either of these devices? If so, how did you like them? I like that their compact and can slip onto my belt and out of my way during my swing

Used the Phantom all year. It’s basic however it’s generally accurate. I have a Bushnell laser too and early on with the Phantom, I frequently confirmed the yardage with my laser. For a $100 investment it’s a good device.

Thx, yea all I need is basic info. I don't get caught up in all the other features that some other devices offer. I prefer to keep it simple

I love my Phantom. It's very easy to use, small (but not too small), accurate, and has the magnetic back to attach to cart when riding. I go back-and-forth between the Phantom and a Bushnell laser. Overall, the Phantom is my preferred device. Just easier to use, and provides more information. Front, Middle, and Back is more useful to me than distance to the pin. Sometimes I shoot the flag and forget to assess the overall situation around the green. Front/Middle/Back gets me in the mode of taking in other, very important considerations.

I ditched my rangefinder a few years back, agreeing with the "bulky" point. Used the garmin watch for a while, but got some inaccurate readings. Buddy turned me on to the Leupold range finder. Smaller and deadly accurate. They are pretty sleek and really easy to use. Feel like a star wars character when i use it. Really helped with my confidence!

I just started using the Garmin S20, and so far it is doing great. I am not crazy about using a laser as it is bulky. So far the watch has been very accurate, and gives lots of readings.

Phantom for me, need bigger numbers for my 55 yr. old eyes.

Numbers I can read without eyeglasses--this is exactly why I gave my Garmin Approach (an excellent GPS) to a friend and bought a rangefinder!

I just picked up a G10 since found at a good price. Have had a Phantom on multiple occasions as I went back and forth between a Phantom and a laser. I prefer the G10 to the Phantom, although the Phantom is a great little device, too. If I always rode in a cart I'd go Phantom for the bite mount (although I've had to walk back from the car to the cart to grab it before leaving, I was bound to leave it behind one day). But I prefer the integrated clip and the smaller, sleeker profile of the G10 for walking. Being able to see the green shape and move the pin location is nice and navigating hazards is slightly better on G10, though won't use either feature much. Also, the G10 just looks better, and is absolutely the perfect size for clipping on your pants pocket. I didn't trust the magnetic clip on the Phantom for walking so it would just be in my pocket, and since I didn't want to scratch it I had to move my divot tool to my left pocket, threw my whole game off, hahaha.
