Stuck on PING s55's

Classic Ping irons. Lot of pros hung onto these for a long while even after the newer model came out

Anybody still on these....found a set with shafts I like. Seems they hold up for a 5yr old iron set....kinda like the Srixon 545/745. Anyone care to compare to new or older Srixon or new Pings. I'm a plain looks iron guy...8HC and 95 Driver SS.

I bet the s55s are pretty close numbers to the 919 tours? Do you have recoils in the S55...how do they play with graphite? Any thoughts on S55 vs Blueprints? Was looking at Blueprints too, but hard to find those at a decent deal. Thanks.

S55 have Fuji mci 100s in them. I will be moving the 110 recoils in my 790’s into my blueprints

790’s are getting aldila vs proto 85x shafts

I almost couldn't believe the 8 pages of adulation this iron created, but I happened upon a mint condition set recently on ebay and I've learned..... All 8 pages are totally true. What an iron.

A compact blade that plays like an iron with bigger size and forgiveness. the solid feel of the ball coming off them is as good or better than the softest forged irons. Just completely solid. Very easy to see why Bubba

has had them for so long. Great irons really are timeless. I also just noticed he switched back to them after hitting the Bluerprints last year. Ping, bring this iron back!

I ended up picking up a set of 5-W off globalgolf.ca for $169 shipped CDN (was like 40% off with codes). Looking forward to getting them out and seeing how well they perform as its a set I've wanted for a long time, but never pulled the trigger. Oddly enough, I also just bought a set of iBlades today as well, so will be fun to do a side by side.

I had a set of S55's WRX made with Steelfiber 110 CW X got them in 2014 went that direction cause Ping was offering Steelfiber for almost no up-charge compared to other OEMs. Only set of Ping irons I ever owned. Loved them and wore them out It was hard to face the fact I need to replace them. Ended up going back to Mizuno but not to the familiar MP line(67 then 63) with PX 6.5 I was using for 2 sets prior to moving to Ping. Got into a set of JPX 919 Tours last year based on Buzz, feel and the look that reminded me of a non chrome mp 63. Went for a fitting and ended on Nippon Modus 3 120X. 1/2 short 1 up to hit also exact spec S55's.

Happy to be back in a set of Mizuno's but throurouly enjoyed the Ping Irons for the 4 years I jammed them. I am still a huge ping driver advocate got a 410LST now and it is my 5th one consecutively gamed.

I built a set late last year and am finally getting a chance to at least get out and hit them this spring and they are just so good. Perfect size, the shape is beautiful and the feel on center strikes is still as good or better than just about anything I've tried since I got my first set of S55's back in 2014. I honestly couldn't say how many iron sets I've been through since then and I always seem to work my way back. The goal for the year is to be disciplined and keep them in the bag to see how it goes.

i did an annual home purge last year and for the first time dug into my golf closet which consisted of several drivers, 4 sets of irons, a few other sticks and putters. i sold EVERYTHING because i was finally happy with my bag. The s55 was the ONLY survivor from the purge. I couldnt ask for a better backup iron set.

Been playing the S55's since 2015 and am in need of a shaft change. I had a digital fitting with a Ping fitter and asked him whether I should reshaft them or upgrade to something new. After talking through it with him we decided that reshafting now is better than waiting on the next Ping players cavity back. Looks like the S55's will be in the bag for a while longer.

S55 is a great iron to be stuck with. One of the best irons ever designed by Ping IMOP.

Curious what you end up with. I have 2 sets of S55 to reshaft and can’t figure out what I want to go with either. I have more sets of iron heads than I do sets of shaft pulls to put in them!

Regarding the shaft options, I am pleased with the Steelfiber l95 CW straight in on the S55. Was a long time DG S300 and PX 6.0 user.

Hi guys, played s55 irons a few years back and loved them. Then you know how it is l sold them, looking for the next big thing. Nothing seemed to work as good, tried all makes blades to GI , and all the ping models, but not the blueprint yet . So l found on ebay an ex-demo s55 7 iron, black dot, with the Ping alta cb red graphite stiff shaft. Just got back from hitting some balls with it, its better than my old s55s were with a steal shafts, it was high, long , straight and great feel. Anyone else playing Ping blades or Ping players CB irons with graphite shafts, would the blueprint work in graphite.

I have graphite in my s55 and blueprints .. both solid, they feel better in graphite ... especially the blueprints

Still stuck on my s55s, went to p790s for a minute but the distance I gained negated the workability without gaining significant forgiveness on mishits. I'm really debating on pxg 0211s for my next experimentation. Anyone have any experience between the s55s and 0211s?

I went to the 0211 from the S55. Can't go wrong with either IMHO but I was fit for the 0211s. Ended up in the KBS $ taper 120 +1/2". The S55s have a stock ping shaft, not even sure which one and are standard length. I'll pull the S55s back out from time to time and hit a few balls. Can't help but wonder if I should reshaft them.

This post probably isn't helpful haha. I feel like they're similar irons. I like the size of the S55s better, but not to say the 0211s are huge.

I may have missed it before, but I noticed that PGA Tour player Matthew Fitzpatrick is still using a combo set of #4 & #5 Ping i25's and 6 thru W Ping S-55's.

That's a pretty good confirmation.
