OG Diamana Whiteboard- still good?

So I've got an original Diamana Whiteboard 83X- used to love this shaft back in the day in my R9 Superdeep, and I don't really see any reason why it wouldn't still be good. Haven't hit a TON of newer stuff, other than liking the Tensei orange in my driver. Thinking of pulling the R9 tip and hunting down a newer 3W head I don't quite have the clubhead speed to make an 83g driver shaft work that 20 year old me did.

Have there been revolutionary changes from Whiteboard->Ahina->D->DF? Or are we more or less updating materials and making the label shinier?

Will hitting a carbon shaft 100's-1000's of times affect its structural integrity?

Go ahead and spitball here...I'm not looking for anybody to prove things with a launch monitor, mostly sitting at my desk talking myself into/out of "add to cart" on new MCA shafts!!! lol

Still a fantastic shaft and I have them in various weights which see regular bag time. Newer shafts and versions of the Whiteboard have come a long way material-wise, but the OG is still awesome. For me it's kind of the benchmark from a performance standpoint that I use to compare anything I test/demo. I haven't personally tried the newest D/DF line, the most recent for me has been Tensei Pro White, but the Tensei Pro line is one of the best MRC/MCA products they've ever made in my opinion.

They may have updated materials but you won't see a massive difference. OG whiteboard feels every bit as good to me at the D+ LTD or any others in the whiteboard family, launch numbers are almost identical as well. YMMV but remember the smoke and mirrors.

I have them in my driver, and fairway woods...perform as good as anything.

Still perfectly fine if it fits you and your swing. There were (and are) still some original Blueboards in play on tour from the same generation.

The primary changes over the years have been related to feel, hitting certain profiles at certain weight classes, offering a wider variety of profiles at different weights, and general consistency in manufacturing, both in terms of actual quality control and in terms of flex consistency across those different weight classes.

In terms of feel, material advancement and technology has allowed the stouter profile shafts to feel better and the smoother feeling shafts to become more stable, most noticeably in the lower weight classes. Stronger and lighter materials allow for different profiles and flexes to be achieved at a wider range of weights as well as allowing the heavier weights to maintain similar stiffness characteristics. It used to be that the heavier the shaft, the stiffer it was all the way around e.g. an 80x would be stiffer than a 60x. But when it comes to the heavier stuff, say 80g and up, its really only going to be more about the feel and the flex consistency, as well as the overall radial consistency of the shaft.

All that technical jargon aside, it is really all about how it works for you. Assuming it does, the gains that you may see by "upgrading" to something more current would be incremental at best. You may find similar performance and stability in the 70g weight class allowing you to pick up a little speed, or you may find something current in the 80g weight class feels better to you. But it is all subjective, and none of the above "advancements" guarantee that something new will be better for you.

I've got a 73 weight original Whiteboard that I've yet to install in a club.

Will do so soon.

I had an 83 weight original Blueboard installed in a TEE XCG7 Beta 15* 3 wood which I bought from a fellow wrx'er, and lent it to my cousin-in-law.

He hasn't returned yet.
