Handicaps 10 - 18 - What type of irons are you playing?

They play even better than they look. Easily the easiest and most forgiving clubs I've ever played, and I've tried all kinds of clubs. At the same lofts (47* PW to 21* 3i) they are ~5 yards to a club longer than my mp67s, mp60s, and Retro TBs. But I have the lightest shafts in them too, which probably is the main reason for the distance gain. To me the distance and moreover the distance control is excellent with them.

Ended 2019, 14.9 HC....Past 2.5 years played Cobra F7 One Length 4i thru PW with 50, 54, 58 Cleveland RTX 3 CB Wedges.

In process of building 2020 King Forged Tec One Lengths 4i thru PW with 48, 52, 56, 60 Cleveland CBX2 Wedges all clubs PX LZ 5.0 shafted.

Hover around a 15 hcp, and still gaming OG Ping Rapture irons, and Glide 2.0 stealth 52° SS and 58° ES wedges.

I still game my MP-5's. Not a typical mid handicapper club, but I'm decent at my irons, and don't lack for distance on them. Every time I want to test out P790s or similar, I wonder what I would do with that 20-30 yard gap between my PW and gap wedge.

Around a 10. JPX 919 Forged, but would love the MP20 MMC, but maybe not good enough for them.

A low 80s golfer should have no issues with the MMCS.

You can always grab a 4 and 5 in HMB if you need a little help with the longer irons.

I am playing 2017 TaylorMade M1 irons (5-AW) and Cleveland RTX-3 wedges in 55 (bent from 56) and 60, but think I will move to 54 and 58 in my next set to better manage distance gaps.

I play Callaway Steelhead XRs in 5-AW, with the set 4h and vokey wedges. I am thinking of getting fit for a new set this season with my eye on the Mavrik Pros, but I haven't made up my mind quite yet.

I was an 8 last year and I recommend Ping i210's.

Look and feel great. I was fitted for red dot, modus 105s shafts. Dropped 3 strokes in 1 season.

Give them a shot. You will not be disappointed.

I'm hovering at an 18 HC at the moment. Titleist 718 AP1 Irons are what I've played since early 2019. Before that I had 714 AP1s since 2015 and before that Taylormade R7s...

I'm still very happy with the 718 AP1s. They are a small but noticeable improvement over my 714s.

I am a 13.9 handicap this year, I pay with Ping G410 irons (4-PW) and they play pretty good,,,I have a set of PXG 0211 iron that will get here in about a week, feel and sound....cannot compare with the G410, PXG has them beaten in all parts of the clubs.

For me, head size and distance were about the same. Top line is slightly thinner but the difference is the feel for the Mizuno. When you strike the ball right the feel and sound are bit more satisfying. In the end, I'm glad I made the switch but I'm still holding on to my Vapor Combos.

Do you find the SC’s significantly more forgiving than the MB’s?

I picked up a new set of MB’s for a great price but am curious about the SC’s.

I am currently at a 12.2. Two years ago I was a 7. Kids and life took over and golf has taken a backseat. I was gaming a set of first generation Epic iron 4-PW with the LZ shaft 6.0. I just switched to PXG Gen 2 0311P 5-GW with Steelfiber i95 stiff. I have some elbow and shoulder issues and the graphite is helping. These aren’t as long as the Epic but I love the consistency and feel.

Iron play has never been my weakness. The long layoff has hurt the short game.

Up to around 11-12 to start this year (only 9h so far) after only playing a half dozen rounds of so over the past 3 years. Was a 4.x at one point, that is not now. Picked up 4 sets of irons over the winter to try out and the Ping iBlades won out for me. Put them up against the S55's, 770/750 combo set and an old favorite in my i20s (threw a couple other blades in there for good measure and fun).
