Grip tape calculation check

I am using midsize ndmc grips and would like to create the plus 4 effect. I can use two layers of double sided tape on the lower half of the grip then 1 layer of double sided tape on the whole grip for installation.

My questions are is this correct? Does this add a bump in the middle of the grip where the built up bottom hand tape starts

try to stagger the tape toward the butt end for a smooth (no bump) transition.

My lower-hand tape buildup scheme is below. I only use single sided tape, and use a compressor to install the grip. My current favourite grip for the last 3 seasons is the CP2 wrap Mid size

I mark 9.75" from the butt, lay down a 2", 3", 4" ,5", 6" then 1 full, install grip, go play. FYI this tape buildup is worth about 0.5 SW points.

I use this method regardless if the shaft is stepped ( S300 ) , step-less ( C-Taper ) or graphite hybrid / fw / driver. Sure I could measure with my digital calipers and get everything "really exact" but I will only go so far with my golf anal-retentiveness.
