Best new blades

Bad reviews on the blueprints ?

I actually like the look and performance of them, considering the smaller size that is available.

I think today’s blades are a matter of preference, looks/shape (square lines vs curves) and size.

I would put Wilson Staff on the larger side and Blueprints on the smaller scale.

I went from MP18s to 2018 Apex MB, the feel was better, liked the classic curves and turf interaction if that is a thing?

I have been on the hunt for a newer model blade, only a little testing so far but very impressed with the Callaway, Mizuno and Wilson Staff.

Further testing required off grass to see what suits

Lots of good choices. I love my Apex MB irons but also liked the Mizuno MP18s, MP20s and blue prints. Love the look of the Wilson irons but haven’t hit them yet. New Titleist MBs and Srixon Z forged were a step behind the other irons but I think that had more to do with the available shafts when I hit them. I have been tempted to try the rose Protos too.

Z forged.

Got a combo set and stopped at the 8 initially. Went back and grabbed a 7, built them up and took it to the range and proceeded to literally hit 6 flags with the blades.

Now I'm looking for a 6i.

I have hit them all except these new releases. But as mentioned above they are all pretty much the same.

There is certainly some blades that are “more forgiving”. The z945’s where awesome and the most forgiving were United SBB Tours. Thin and dead sexxy too.

But it really is about what catches your eye, color, offset and turf interaction. If you want a great set to try Adams MB2’s are well know and I owned over 12 different sets. They have a bubble sole with probably a bit much offset but going from GI, CB’s this is helpful.

Some harder blades to hit are Titliest and Mizzy Mp68/69’s. Least there were for me. But Mizzy Mp5’s are extry leverl blades and might be exactly what you are looking for.

Or maybe Mp59’s, just got a set, look like blades but have a small cavit. Cheap $$ too which is what “trying” is all about.

- Something that continues to go long off the tee in the fairway
- Something that is a fairway finder when needed and long
- Something that high, consistent and helps with par 5’s
-  Something to help with long par3’s and short par 4’s

-  Something metal, lots of them and go the gaps I need
- Something metal, 2x of them and helps me 120y and in
- Putters - limited rotation because I cannot afford misses

Golf is what you make of it.  Play grateful and accepting. We are all lucky to have it.

Rather than expecting lets all try and appreciate instead.

I would say the P7TW is a pretty clear choice in my eyes, the fact that tiger was willing to have that set released and they turned out to be really popular is a very cool thing. And then the blueprint is a close second because ping blades are rare And those are super clean

The new Hogan Icon blades look really nice, especially the black version. The Rev33 is also a real eye-catching design.

I'd pass on the Pings... just ok. You could get a set of almost new MP-5s someplace for half the price and have twice the set of clubs. For me Srixon haven't done blades justice since the stellar 945 (in my bag). If budget's not a big deal I'd have a hard time not giving P7TW a whirl - though what I'd actually do is pick up some Titleist 681/T stamps in that case - still some in like new shape floating around, big price tag though.

MP-20 is kind of the easy choice here for me of the current gen stuff. I like some older Mizuno designs more though. Wilsons also would be great performers, not crazy about the lines on that iron though. Wilson, Srixon, and Titleist will have the most forgiving soles, MP-20 pretty easy thru the turf too, tho lesser than the others. Honma and TaylorMade probably with the least amount of help if you come in steep at all.

CG is also a factor if you really want to get into the weeds. Hard to know if its really the one for you until you've spent some time with them though.

My favorites ranked on the market that I tried in my last fitting.

Blueprint - the winner (for me PERSONAL PREFERENCE!) It's different, it's unique and they hit greens. I like them so much that if they remove them from the PING lineup - I'll buy a backup set. no joke. Mp 20 - best combo set optionsTitleist MB - maybe the best looking - but just didn't hit it as well. Maybe the least forgiving of the bunch Srixon - Hit it great - didn't love the look Taylormade 730 - Just solid all around Callaway MB- really liked it - best looking iron they've made IMO Wilson MB - Very classic - almost retro - not a fan of the dots on the face. Great club though

Notable mention - Fourteen blades (FH 1000) - had an older model of these and they were fantastic (my first bladed set)

Obviously Miura (any model) - but if you're in the market for that brand you're not considering anything else

I'm moving from Apex MB to the new Wilson Staff Models (should hopefully be here next week!). Performance wise, I there wasn't tons in it really, but the Wilsons were a tad more forgiving, plus I managed to get the ball up higher with them too for some reason?

Love my MP20s. I've played Callaway Apex MB, Titleist 714 MB, 710 MB, and Mizuno MP4s in the past and MP20 are by far my favorite of the bunch.

I just picked up a set of the new Ben Hogan Icon blades. I've played one round and the feel and performance is very good. I've reshafted them from KBS Tour V 110 stiff to Nippon Modus3 Tour 120 stiff shafts. The price is excellent because of direct shipping from Ben Hogan Company. The shaft selection is minimal, they need more options.

Here are a few pictures comparing the Icons to my backup set of '99 Ben Hogan Apex blades. My regular '99 Apex blades are shiny chrome like the Icons, not the satin of my backups, and would have made a more accurate comparison for finish.
