Top Flight Gamer golf ball is back

I played this ball 2 weeks ago for some of my round and it feels like a combination of the previous game and gamer soft. I am scheduled to play tomorrow and intend to use it for some of the round. It is more shapeable than the tru feel and a little firmer. It had good distance on my drives and irons and pretty good manners around the green.

I played a few holes with the new gamer today before going back to the tru feel. I wouldn't say it's a poor ball just nothing remarkable. It played very similar to the e12 soft which makes it a much better value even at its regular price of $23/doz. The greens were much firmer than last round with this ball and on the 2nd hole I had to pitch over a bunker and land on a slight down slope to a middle pin- left myself 20 feet- not a good start. The first two drives were fine though. I would say it is a mid trajectory ball- lower flight than the magic gamer soft I used. I have no problems with run of the mill chips and pitches with it. It rolls out a little less on putts than the tru feel which is a lively ball off the putter. When this ball goes on sale for 2 doz for $35 I think it is better than any 3 piece surlyn callaway, or bridgestone make and superior all around versus the tmade soft response ball.

I am hoping they make another gamer soft though. Otherwise I will stick with the tru feel for now since I have my more rounds with that ball.

I bought 5 dozen of the old Gamers about 3 years ago. Only have a couple left. Good ball for me. Not too much or too little spin. Reviews of last years Gamer were not good. Hope the new ones recapture some of the magic. Hope they come in yellow. 3 dozen for $40. Can't beat that if it's as good as the old ball.

Can't believe they released several new lines of TF's, with no new gamersoft or gamer urethane. I guess the guy who developed the blue gamersoft is still in charge, lol.

Hated the gamer urethane. At $6/dozen, I felt they were overpriced.

I've been using Gamer Urethane and have about 3 dozen left. I used to play Gamer Tours before I quit playing in '13. They seem fine to me but I'm just getting back into the game and I'm a high index. So it's not like I have refined tastes in a ball. I liked the price point and the ball performed decent for me. I don't want to be hitting a rock around the greens.

 

Anyone have a feel for how the new Gamers compare to the older Gamer Tours? I'll need to look for some new balls since I can't get the Urethane anymore.

@red5standingby Thanks for that. I just ordered 10 dozen, lol. I prefer to not change balls much and as a 28 index I will tend to lose a few when I play. I don't feel bad losing a ball that cost me maybe 80 cents per ball. plus I'm not good enough to have a ProV1 make much of a difference in my game IMO.
One thing I have noticed with these is I shred the covers with wedge shots once in a while. So some get retired because of the condition of the ball itself.

If there is a Dick’s/Golf Galaxy exclusive you’re like that is discontinued it will probably end up on Golfworks after it disappears from the other two. I didn’t mind the Maxfli U6x ball. For $12.97 a dozen I bought a few from Golfworks.
