Got my HMP/ HM split set last September. HMP G-6, HM 5&4. Nippon Modus 105 R, standard lies and lofts. Have many quality iron shots with these. The grind / sole just works for my swing, especially the HMP’s. Still will hit some indifferent shots with the 5 & 4 irons. I think maybe that the offset/sole may be getting in my head sometimes. Seriously thinking about getting HMP 4 and 5.

Just saw that you can now get these at $100/club with their usual shaft offerings at no upcharge. A 5-PW set with Recoil 95's and MCC+4's for $599? Tough to not take a serious look at that.

Fitted for Hot metal pros last winter, mixed results mostly due to rust in Florida in March then courses shut down. 6 weeks later and 7 rounds they all of sudden starting clicking. Long high straight. Before last few round miss was left which surprised me with less offset than previous irons ping g400.

last few rounds distance and loft have increased. Ball is flying off face but distance is predictable.

Only complaint is compared to my previous Ping G 400 I’m struggling to hit a lowish punch from 40-60 yards. Ball explodes off face making distance control a challenge. Will have to learn to control, use gap/sand wedges from that distance or replace 9/P with 919 forged. Gapping from 8 to 9 might be issue with the latter.

I ended up abandoning my hmp project... got a pitching wedge to see how I liked it and it’s fine! But don’t love it on the course... currently gaming the set of adams cmbs I wanted in 2012.

This is a comparison I have not seen. How have those Mavrik Pros been treating you?

Really well, like the pairing with the elevate 105 shafts. I have hit irons that look better at address, but these just work .

Hot Metal Pro just arrived, these look great, also went with lighter shafts, Modus 105, was lucky and snagged a mint JPX 900F GW On the BST this morning

How do the Mavrik Pro and HMP compare in terms of head size?

The Mavrik Pro have a little more offset, and are thicker top line, but you don’t see the cavity on the 5 iron like the HMP, pretty insignificant though.

i am surprised how good the HMP look at address, especially 9-P, better than I thought, they look good in the bag too.

The Mavrik Pro have been very consistent on distance, will be important for HMP to be the same.

Spent time hitting the HMP vs the 919 Forged the last two days. If you put them on the ground next to each other, I wouldn't be able to tell you which was which. I thought the forged felt better, but not sure it's worth the extra price.

For experimental purposes, I picked up a 4-7i in HMP to blend in when wanted wiith 919F in 8-PW. I weakened loft by one degree on 6-7i in HMP to blend a bit.

Had a slightly downhill shot this evening 142, guessing swing speed in low mid 80’s, hit high lofted 9 irons landed over pin to back of green 155 ish. Granted very firm green with premium ball. Previous irons g400 would have carried 130 and ran out 10 yards max. I love these hot metal pros but just fear they are too long, and gap between gap and PW too great.

Ha - this is my exact configuration. Then I have S18 54 and 58 wedges. Been very happy with them on the course. Will be very interested in what you make of them. I was in 900 Tour/Forged combo before and these HMP are way more forgiving than the Tour but not that much more forgiving than the 900 Forged. I am tempted to get a set of 919 Forged while the price is cheap :)

Thanks for posting the photos. The Mavrik Pro looks downright small in the pics but I’ve read it is sized between the Apex and Apex Pro. The HMP definitely gives a look of forgiveness, but doesn’t look bulky (unlike the HMB.) It’s amazing how they are getting so much tech in these irons and yet still keeping them compact.

It may have been posted in here somewhere but has anyone tried to set up the HMP 4 iron as a driving iron? I just ordered one 1” long and 1 deg strong. Figured it was worth a shot.

IMO it's a little small for a DI. The regular Hot Metal would be better - but less workable.

Seen a couple 919 HM Pros sets come up on the classifieds lately in my price range. I'm a 17-20 handicap (been playing a little over a year) and currently using big clunky G20s. Would the Pros be suitable for someone of my handicap? or Would I be better off with the regular Hot Metals?
