JPX Forged 919 and 919 Tour-Long Term Review??

I've progressed a TON with these irons (919 Tours) - I was shooting low 100s when I got them, and after a couple clinics, a few lessons, and regular practice I have my sights on breaking 80! I personally think the feedback I get from these irons has at least something to do with it and I'm glad I went with 'blade-style' irons than game improvement.

I bought T7 wedges because I thought they aesthetically looked like the best match. After getting used to everything I think they feel a lot harder than the 919 Tours, so I just bought a set of S18s. They felt a lot softer in the cage and I think it has something to do with the extra mass around the perimeter of the head. I also like the grind on these wedges as opposed to the T20s.

SM7s seem like a good fit, too. However I didn't choose them because of the thin topline. It feels weird going from a nice thin topline (SM7) back to a thicker one (919 Tour) where the thicker top makes me feel like I'm using training wheels or something.

Anyway these 919 Tours are phenomenal! My distance is the best its ever been, I'm easily holding greens (4i from rough 93 out literally stuck within a foot), accuracy is really good, they're super responsive and they feel really great (with Modus 125 shafts ;) )

I'm considering a very similar setup (may go with a Forged 7) -- how did you handle the loft adjustments throughout the set? Did you just weaken the HM/F or adjust the whole set?

Been playing the 919 Forged from 5-P with a 4-iron 919 Hot metal pro. Great combo, love the feel, dispersion and look. Don't see myself changing heads for awhile, maybe just upgrading my shafts as my iron swing gets better since I only started playing 2 summers ago.

Gap was about 18 yards, so fitter had to adjust loft of the 4 HMP to bring down the distance gap.

I really think a lot of sites/reviews paint the 919 Tour as being more demanding than it is. IMO, they are very much in the same ballpark as the Srixon Z785, Srixon Z Forged, Callaway X Forged, etc.. You can't miss all over the place but you absolutely do not have to be an elite ball striker to enjoy them. I hit them extensively side by side with the Bridgestone J15 CB today which is one of my all time favorite irons. The J15's were a little more forgiving and maybe a tiny bit longer, but the 919 Tours had tighter dispersion for me. You have to hit the 919 Tours a little closer to center to get the amazing feel the J15's have in spades, but when hit well the 919 Tours have a super nice feel...soft and powerful.

The 919 Tours are going in the bag for a while. Great irons!!

Very encouraging. I am a mid to low 80's player. shoot low 90's on a frustrating day (due to tee shots, and 3 putts). My goal is to break into the 70's (single digit HDCP). I thought the tours might de-rail this process but i am also going to finally take lessons, and dial in my ball striking. Good to see somebody step into "better" clubs and take on the challenge.

Love my 919 Tours.

They look perfect for my eye - relatively thin top line, relatively little offset, slightly longer blade length, satin finish. Look great in the bag too.

They aren’t quite as soft as the MP18 blades I had before, but they still feel very good.

I’ve found them to be extremely forgiving too. Not in the same launch / ball speed way of GI or distance irons, but distance and dispersion is very consistent even if you miss the center - particularly for the slight toe side miss I’m prone to.

Reduced bounce.

My 4 iron is 2 degrees strong and in all honesty I don't notice the change.

My 5 iron is 1 degree strong and again no difference for me.

Finished a fitting today with 919T, 919F, Mp20... well the entire mp20 line.

919 Tour with Modus 120 in 4-PW has been ordered. with a T20 gap wedge. These slightly beat out the MP20 for me.

When i missed - Thin or toe, i knew i missed instantly! Which i actually love. I didn't even have to look at the launch monitor.

But they were not as punishing as my old experience with blades or pro level clubs. My hands weren't ringing.

Coming from a Nike VPC head, it felt very comfortable to look at during address. Look forward to real world testing.

919t’s here on my 2nd season with them and still loving them this was the first set of irons I went 2 seasons in a row with ever and strongly considering not switching next year either Unless the 921’s are special would be unheard of for a true hoe like myself

I honestly feel like the 919 tours may be the first iron set I play till they're worn out

No matter what irons I've played there has always been something that 'bugged' me about them resulting in a change, I haven't had that with the tours which is a nice change.

Regarding the 921 tours I hit them earlier, feel is similar to the 919s.  At address the 921s have a slightly smaller, squarer profile than the 919s.

Not a massive difference (in my opinion)
