Taylormade adapter that doesn't need a plastic ferrule?

I have a 2016 M2 I am experimenting with. I can see there are a variety of adapters available, and I am not asking which are compatible, etc., as there are other threads that provide that info. But I am wondering if any of the aftermarket adapters are designed so a plastic ferrule isn't necessary. The old Adams adapters (with the triangle-wrench) got this right. The adapter body itself looks like a ferrule, although it is made of aluminum. So you can pull it and move it to a different shaft without having to purchase a specialized ferrule.

I'm not sure about 3rd party aftermarket ones, but if you search for the "Tour Issue" Taylormade adaptors, they are all metal and tapered down so as to not require a ferrule.

Are you sure this is true? I’ve never seen one that doesn’t require at least a small ferrule

Here is one example of the TM all metal adapter - they can be found with different amounts of adjustability, this one is +/- 1.5* but they are also available in +/- 2.0* or even 1* Brand New 2 Tour Issue Taylormade M5/SIM +/- 1.5 TP Adapter .335 Drivers Fairway | eBay

This is correct. TaylorMade doesn’t offer a no ferrule adaptor. The only OEM I know of that used an all-metal adaptor was Ping. But they had trouble with shafts breaking so they updated with a small ferrule like the newer TaylorMade adaptors. The older TM (more than 3 years?) adaptors used a large ferrule with the settings printed on it. The newer ones have the settings on the metal adaptor, but a small ferrule at the top.There is a specialty ferrule on those. Just not the big ones with the printed settings. But TaylorMade hasn't used those for years.

I bought one of the Billie Bob's adapters. Indeed, it doesn't use a plastic ferrule. But I was disappointed that the marking are specifically for a driver with 10* loft (so 2* up will show as 12*, regardless of what the loft of actual head is). It is obviously usable with other lofts, but the markings will be wrong.

EDIT: The lettering won't come off with acetone, or paint stripper

That is the adapter made by BillyBob for the R1, it will work just cannot remember the conversions. GolfWorks has an all metal adapter like like that but with settings like the stock ones, I have a couple that I use the most. If they still have them.

That is the part I ordered, but not what I got. I think they sent me the adapter for the Adams XTD Ti, which is functionally equivalent, but marked differently.

I have emailed them to find out what's what.

EDIT: Billy Bobs responded saying it was a mistake and they will ship me the correct one. I should have received the bottom one shown in Stuart's post.

EDIT 2: Received the correct part yesterday, and they didn't ask for the "wrong" part back. Excellent customer service, and the quality of the part seems top-notch. This adapter has a significant chamfer at the top, which I assume is to provide an epoxy "cushion" to prevent stress concentration at the top of the aluminum ferrule.
