Here's another vote for The Wilderness in Lake Jackson, TX--absolutely worth the ride from Houston, especially when you factor in how fast you can get around most times. The course is literally a hidden gem routed through an Audubon Nature Preserve on the outskirts of Lake Jackson, about a 45 min-1 hr 15 min drive from most of Houston, depending on traffic. Lots of memorable holes and one of the most unique and fun courses around for how flat the site is. It's managed by Kemper and they do a great job keeping the greens in top shape. The massive Biarritz on 16 is a personal favorite, along with the gigantic green on the par 5 7th.

Also, used to love playing Gold Mountain outside of Bremerton when I lived up in the PNW. It's been a few years since I was out there but I'd imagine it's still more than worth it if you're in the area.

Course Name: JeffersonvilleCity, State: Jeffersonville PA (like 30 mins outside philly)Price Range: Maxes out at $65 for weekend mornings, but as low as $22 to walkA brief description of why you think it's a hidden gem (and please include a photo if you have one!): This course has no business being as nice as it is for how cheap it is. Original and largely unmolested donald ross muni. They restored it a few years ago to improve drainage and airflow - feels like a walk in the 1930's with private course conditions. Gets plenty of play, but I don't understand how it's NOT booked 24/7. A real treat if you're nearby in a city with plenty of great public golf.

Course Name: Westwood Plateau Executive 12 hole courseCity, State: Coquitlam, BC (Canada)Price Range: $25 CAD weekend $20 CAD weekdayA brief description of why you think it's a hidden gem: Cheap, fast to get around (2 hours), a couple drivable par 4s that make you feel warm and fuzzy, good vistas, and kid friendly without being too hard

Course: Radrick Farms

City/State: Ann Arbor, MI

Price: $44 weekday, $51 weekend. Real deal is the season pass - ~$1700 for the year which includes unlimited range/practice facilities. Limited availability to faculty/staff and alumni of University of Michigan.

Why it’s a hidden gem : This is the slightly less well known of the 2 University of Michigan courses. Unlike the “main” U of M course which is open to students and public, this course has restricted eligibility that keeps the play/traffic down. It is Pete and Alice Dye’s second ever course design. Fun routing, very playable, and always on top condition. Very walker friendly.

Forest Hills

Augusta, Ga

A city known for the most exclusive golf course, this gem is a steal. It’s Augusta University’s home course and was part of Bobby Jones’ grand slam. A Donald Ross design that is in incredible shape for $40 with cart. Was suppose to play augusta country club or the challenge retreat recently with a friend that is members at both. Due to covid we couldn’t get on as guest and played here instead. Wow what a welcomed surprise.

This is painfully true. A couple local attorneys have tried to spark some fundraising efforts to bring back the glory days but frankly, someone or some company with serious money to burn is going to need to just come sink millions into the place and market it to the same folks who play Half Moon Bay, Harding, even Pasatiempo. It has enormous potential, which goes without saying given several of the original holes Doc designed are still intact, but also the property itself has some serious linksland potential too. They could even restore most all the old holes he designed that are no longer intact. With some serious money and the right touches agronomically, Sharp could easily be the poor man's Cal Club and a serious draw away from the always overcrowded Harding.

I played Sharp Park a few years back, was in the area looking for a quick round and didn't know the history. I just thought it was kind of a beat up muni on a nice piece of land. Shame on me, as I'm sure I would have appreciated it more had I known the background. Hopefully it can be restored.

Definitely +1 on Langdon Farms outside of Portland, Oregon. Have played several times and always enjoyed the course, in excellent condition and a steal for the price. Fun, challenging, and beautiful Northwest scenery. Last time I played there was a twilight special for $12, can't beat that.

Course Name: Ritz Carlton at Dove MountainCity, State: Tucson AzPrice Range: $25-XXXA brief description of why you think it's a hidden gem: Very cheap course for the glam that its associated with. Former PGA Accenture spot deemed "too hard" for match play from the pros. Bring your A game, you'll need it.
