PXG 0211 irons - what do you think?

Finally took the 0211 irons for their first test drive today. Immediately dislike the lamkin z5 mid stock grips. The clubs however are absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Little long heel to toe, but they look good. I like them (feel is excellent for a cast iron), HOWEVER... the Elevate tour shaft is giving me a really mid to low penetrating ball flight. I was under the impression these shafts were designed to launch high/steep angle of decent to mitigate low spin from iron heads. I’m a fairly high launch guy usually (actually great launch angle with my gamer i15s) but these are very low launching shafts for me and coupled with low spin heads, I’m not sure if they’re gonna make the cut. Anyone else experience this?

The Elevate Tour is not near as high launching or high spinning as the standard Elevate shaft. You have 30 days to try another shaft from them. Maybe just switch to standard shaft.

During my fitting, I want to fit into the Gen 2 because they are forged but 0211 just looks and performs better.

I am more concern about the weight of MMT80 but it is good to hear they will reshaft at no charge.

After a few range sessions and one round I am impressed. I’ve played similar irons like i200 and Honma hollow TW X and the 0211s feel softer and I’ve been pretty accurate with them. I haven’t bagged a 4 iron in a long time but have this one in play. My miss is usually thin but I wasn’t overly penalized when it happened.

I was really pleased with the set’s sand and lob wedge performance too...glad I got them! Great distance control although I need to get chipping feel and distance as these wedges seem a touch hotter.

So far so good!

Gotta say I really like these Elevate 95s. It’s like the feel of graphite with control of steel. I did get mine in R flex and it’s comparable to the Project X 5.5’s in my Razr X forged set.

Project X 5.5’s always intrigued me. From a stiffness standpoint wouldn’t Dynamic Gold S300 frequency out to 5.7? Seems like the PX 5.5 would be a great compromise for a lot of in-betweeners.

This is what I'm experiencing with the Elevate Tour in stiff. I don't feel like they're too stiff, but launch angles are LOW, and I'm not a low launch player. It concerns me with the already reduced spin from the heads

I got the S flex, but agree with you in general about the Elevate 95s. Feel like graphite, but with the control of steel, and surprisingly stable. I never seemed to love the XP95, but I really like the Elevate 95. Launch is definitely high with the Elevate 95, if that is an issue with the Elevate Tour (which I have in my PXG wedges, and is working great).

I played my first round this weekend with mine (dynamic gold 120/stiff) after a couple of range sessions. The long irons I like but I dont really love them as a whole. Hitting some moon balls with the shorter clubs. I struggle with too much spin but these seemed to do well in that regard. Not much of an improvement on my current irons.

They definately didn't wow me but im going to play a few more rounds and see what happens. I have a set of cobra forged tec on the way courtesy of the discount code from this weekend so if they are better, the 0211's are going back

Picked up a set early on in the sale, didn’t get fit, even over the phone and took a flyer on the elevate shafts. today was the first day I got out on the course with them.

Ranges aren’t open so no warm up, and no golf for the last 3 months, I knew I wouldn’t have much of a swing. I did just fine with the driver, fw and hybrid, But could not hit these irons decent to save my life. Worst ugliest shots I’ve ever hit, even when I felt like I put a good swing on it. I literally threw everything that I knew at it to try to get the club to turn over and just couldn’t do it. Drop another ball, same result. And another other one, same thing. Beyond frustrating, I am suprised that I did not toss them in the water.

That said, even as bad as I played, they are hands down the very best feeling clubs I have ever hit. Even on all of the bad shots. Anything else I probably would have immediately gotten rid of, but the feel alone is enough to go back for more.

Sorry to hear that, but it happens. Sometimes gets sorted out, and sometimes just ain’t gonna happen. Which shafts, the Elevate 95 or Elevate Tour? What was the biggest issue? Thin, fat, pulls, pushes, low, high? What is a prior solid shaft for you?

Stay with them, they are awesome irons that really perform as well as they feel. 3 rounds and they really kicked my beloved P790’s to the curb.

I have already hit some memorable shots with them. Hang in there.

For defense I was fit at PXG for them into Modus 120’s.

Thanks guys, appreciate the positive reinforcement. I went with the 95’s, everything all stock. Lighter then what I’ve been used to, but I’ve been at home hitting into the net the last couple months working on some things and felt like I had It all dialed in. Everything else was fine, I was off the tee farther than i have been at that course and feeling good. Then I would get to the second shot, and be like what the actual F was that? Normally I miss with a push, buI couldnt even get that.

I am sure it’s me and not the clubs, so I’ll blame the swing, the rust, the extra quarantine weight, the stock grips, and anything else I can for now and keep trying to work it out. But it was a complete mind hump.

I play Modus 120 and I hit the 0211 and Elevate during fitting. Dislike it immediately and it's just not the weight, it's the profile of the shaft. I hit the 0211 with SF, Accra and MMT graphite shafts which is similar weight or even lighter, they all feel and perform better than Elevate.

Had another round in this morning and iron play was great, hit a number of memorable shots, really pleased. I think the big standouts to me were how much easier the long irons are to hit.

I had dropped my 4 iron and been struggling with my 5, was even thinking of going hybrids and start irons at 6 but I’ve really stroked these long irons well. I know most here don’t think it’s a feat to hit a 4 iron 190 yards but it sure was sweet to hit that green.

Felt like tinkering and cut mine back down to standard length specs (they were 1/2 inch over) and replaced the standard Lamkin Z5 midsize (which I did not hate) with standard size Tour Velvets. I think the lighter weight of the standard grips will offset the lost swingweight from being cut down. It was an experiment to try the longer length and bigger grips. After several rounds and many indoor sessions I think I’ll gain more distance from consistent strikes versus increased length. Also, Arccos was showing I miss greens to the right side most often and the smaller grip might help. Make no mistake, the 0211 is a great platform and these are just minor tweaks to get the most out of them for me.

Is everyone seeing a 6 week lead time? My build date was 5/22, went to 6/6. Then I got an email saying they were being built and would ship in 5 days. I called and confirmed this info. They even claimed a shipping label had been made after I tried to upgrade my shipping

6 days passed and I called again and was told clubs would not be built for 2-3 more weeks and no shipping label is made.

I get delays, but this jerking around is making me reconsider. Only so much golf weather in Michigan!

Hope they are worth the wait...

I ordrered mine on 4/22 and they arrived yesterday. I was able to hit them a bit last night but it's been raining a ton here so it was very wet. That said, I loved them when I hit them. I ordered them on the website and then was fitted when they were allowed to do so about two weeks later.

at the mobile fitting I ended up ordering two hybrids and those are showing a 6/6 build date.
