Time for a new update. Likely going with 3 new SM8s once I can decide on bounce configs. Probably TSi2 3 wood as well.

Have you played Shimada shafts before? How did you find your way into them, as they are not exactly the first shaft brand that springs to mind for most people?

@No_Catchy_Nickname I never played them before. I'd always played px 6.5 and x100 and just tried a bunch during my fitting. Deff not cheap LOL. Kept coming back to them. They feel like a more dialed in x100 with some counterbalance. Also the butt size feels smaller which i'm a fan of.

Callaway makes an mb 50* gap wedge too. Then maybe sm8 54.12D and 60.04L with x7

I "think" I've set my bag for 2023 season. Spent the last few weeks testing, different lengths, loft configs through irons and wedges etc.. Need to spend more time dialing in the game rather than tinkering too much this year and start turning in low tourney scores in state/us events.

Do you usually pick 2 out of the 5w, 3h, and 2i? Interesting to have 3 options within a few degrees of each other but I imagine they all serve quite different purposes?

The 5w plays closer to 17* but yeah I pick between the 3h and 2i. Driver is my best club so if thats on I usually carry the hybrid. But if its off the hybrid will likely be too and i'll carry the 2i.

 

I play mostly in the northeast where courses tip out at 6800 so 3 wood isn't really needed. I'm also considering adding a couple MG3s into the rotation that I can pull based on the course. For instance, drop the 51 and and set PW and go 48-53-58-62.

Okay so that didn't go as planned LOL, changing up a few things...

 

-Strengthening 221 lofts similarly to Pings power spec lofts, about 2*, drooping PW and 4 iron..

-keeping MG3s in case I change my mind again but going to SM9 46F(bent to 44), 50F, 54D, 59D. I just play better with these D grinds I dunno why. To me they play different than just an extra bounce M grind

-looking at new ping 3 wood or Cally in place of Tsr3 5w and then adding a 818H2 17* hybrid

-maybe going back to prov1 X

Did a gapping sesh with my fitter. Also confirmed PX6.5 is still my best bet but going to move me into the PX wedge in a few weeks.

Ideally I would like to be able to hit multiple shots with the 5W. Starting to think 18* 2i/driving irons don't have much purpose for me. Off the tee they simply go to far and run out to much. Hoping the 22* 3.5i works out

Okay obviously had to do some last min adjustments to feed the OCD. Bent to offset liking and bending bar skill tolerance level LOL. The 221's look ideal like this. About 1.25 to 1.5 weak. This is what I ended up with.... for now

 

MP18 4i = 22

221's

4 = 25.25

5 = 28.5

6 = 31.5

7 = 35.5

8 = 39.5

9 = 43.25

P = 47.25

SM9 54D = 54.5

SM7 60M = 60

Just got back from FL. Didn't love the yardage gapping. Re-bent them to all to just 0.5* weak throughout the irons. Will jump back on trackman tomorrow. This is normal lofted 6iron from mid Dec.

Couple updates..

 

Irons are now playing off 38.5 EOG 5iron and went about 1.5-2* upright.

 

I'm looking at dropping the 221 4iron and adding a 223 4iron & 5iron. Essentially the 223 5 replaces the 221 4, and the 223 4 becomes the sets 3 iron.

 

Also, T22 58X has too much bounce for firm conditions so considering a backup
