Name on Bag

Haha

You just need money.

But I agree, gotta have game if you throw you name on your bag - if you wear Loudmouth pants - if you wear white pants....

Just my opinion, but if I'm not making a living playing golf, teaching golf, or otherwise work in the golf industry where it is a benefit to get my name out there for professional purposes, it ain't happening.

More power to you who want to do so, but I'm a more private sort of individual. It has zero to do with handicap.

Have to agree with dubbelbogey, without sponsors or being on tour/teaching pro/ etc., name on your bag is a bit much....unless using to ID your bag :-)

Then again it's your bag, do as you wish.

Not sure who sets the rules about these things but as I age the thoughts others might have about my behaviors take a backseat (i.e., I am not indifferent) to thoughts like "hmmm, I have so few days left, what might I do today to enjoy the time I have and not cause anyone or anything harm?"

I don't have an official handicap, nor need one for what I do, but I get a smile out of having my name on my bag (see photo), in addition to carrying a 2-oz flask engraved "Old Cuss' Links Elixir". Whimsy is fun.

The Pro Shop of my club had a promotion with free names on new bags, so a bunch of people got it.

We play, we exchange cards with handicap info, I had seen In some clubs list of members and their handicaps, results are published with the handicap next to the name but there is an unofficial rule of having a certain handicap to have the name on the bag? It sounds like double digits handicappers shouldn’t be allowed to use blades, Circle Ts, staff bags or a caddy ?

My club embroiders bags with the club logo and players name for free....so almost everyone has their names on their bags no matter if theyre a 3 or 30 hcp.

We used to have a dead horse icon with someone hitting it with a bat---- so you get the gist here----- I have said it before and will say it again------ Do what ever you want to. Personally it does not make 2 hoots to me if you have your name on your bag or not or what your handicap is. Life is too short to worry about what others say or think

It is pretty funny how quickly people will judge others based on how that person enjoys their belongings.

Even more funny is the fact that people ask said people about the decisions they are about to make and hope it isn’t some faux pas.

Here’s a thought, do whatever you want and forget how people may perceive you. The fact that people will judge you based on the fact that you have your name on your bag says a helluva lot more about them than it does you.

Totally agree with this. Customization in golf is a form of expression. I've even caught flack for having custom stamping on all of my wedges. People would be happier if they just had fun and spent less time criticizing others.

When I was JR and college golfer, we would always criticize or judge a player if they had a name on their bag......

now I am a mature adult..... LOL I don't give a crap anymore and life is much better haha

Ive played with some shitty golfers to really good golfers that all had their name on their bag.

Regardless of handicap, I can think of a few benefits of having your name on your bag. Some have already been mentioned in this post:

Your bag would probably be less likely to get stolen. If it is stolen, it would be easily identified by the police.Less likely for the bag drop attendee to place your bag on the wrong cart (at nicer courses and/or tournament play).Easier for playing partners to remember your name.More likely to keep your bag longer resisting the urge to buy new bags.Vessel sometimes offers free personalization, and I’m contemplating taking advantage of it. Thoughts?
