Lightweight Golf Shafts for the Senior or Slower-Swing-Speed Golfer

This is a great thread. Would love to find a Grand Bassara GB49 in Lite-Flex for my kid's 3-wood.

I'm 65 and am using the Diamana Green 40 (in A flex) in a Callaway Epic Flash driver.

I really like this thread. I don't know what my swing speed is, but I like this club / shaft combo. I carry about 210 - 220 yards, and hit a little less than 2/3 of the fairways. Maybe I'll get fit one of these days...

Thanks for your comments. The Mitsubishi Grand Bassara only comes in a 29 (32 grams) and 39 (43 grams). I have tried both and found the 39 the best for me. However, the price is quite steep for the pocketbook at $450 new on Ebay. However, there are several much less expensive alternatives in the Bassara line that would work well in your son's driver. I liked the Bassara W line the best (was the Wyvern). I used the E in a TaylorMade driver and found it pretty good but did not like it as well as the W line. Another lightweight shaft that I have been using in my Cobra F9 fairway woods is the UST Mamiya Helium shafts although it did not seem to translate as well into a Ping K15 driver that I used for a while. These shafts are light but firm and I can hit them with a lot of confidence.
