Unfortunately my golf has been limited to UK only but can't complain at the calibre of courses we've got.

It is. Easily the most scenic and amazing piece of land I've seen golf on. You can see the ocean from every hole (one hole you have to look behind you) it's kinda like playing 6-10, 17/18 at Pebble Beach for 19 (yes there's 19) holes. The golf itself is top notch too great use of land and lots of variety.

I don't know how to define "best", I'm sure we all do it a little differently, but my favorite course has been Royal Dornoch in Scotland. A couple others in the favorite category are Lahinch in Ireland and MidPines in the Pinehurst area.

I've played quite a few of the popular ones: Pebble, Muirfield, TOC, Kingsbarns, The Ocean Course, Doral Blue, Teeth Of The Dog, Pasatiempo, and many more. However the best course I've ever played is Coyote Moon in Truckee, California... Not well know but an amazing mountian course.

Playing there for the first time next Friday for my brother's 40th birthday golf trip. Can't wait.

So far for me, only playing 7-8 years now and not traveling much out of my state...but Oldestone C.C. (#1 or #2 in State, depending who you talk to) is by far the best. Next would be Keene Trace Champions Course (haven't played it since PGA has been there). Another few beautiful courses I've played in Ky are Persimmon Ridge & Dale Hollow State Park.

Muirfield Village GC, and it's not close. Oakmont, Inverness, Scioto, The Golf Club, many other good ones fade into secondary importance when I think about The Village. And I love playing there.
