Played Trophy Club Saturday. Great course and in great shape. Struggled again with driver so it was a constant battle.

Played Pleasant Run Sunday. Fun little course in great shape. Got some help with driver and enjoyed the day with my son and his college chums.

It was a 54 hole weekend and this old guy is feeling it... but I'm ready for more!

@DrOldSchool, My get out of work day is usually Wednesday or Thursday. Need to play early enough to be @ home in Greenfield by 5:00. Don't have a home course - open to anywhere!

Update on the Pfau golf course, they were supposed to open May 1. Currently closed due to Covid. They are waiting to hear from IU when it will be ok to open. Basically we don’t have an open date yet.

Played The Sycamore at Eagle Creek yesterday. Great shape. Greens were as good as I've ever seen them.

Pfau will be open June 15 and taking tee times starting June 11. It was in the Bloomington paper yesterday or so.

Made the short trek down from the Chicago suburbs back to my old stomping grounds in West Lafayette for 54 holes.

Played Coyote Crossing Thursday afternoon. Love that course, but didn’t have a great experience. 2 of us teed off at 4:00, finished the front 9 around 5:30, and right before we were getting ready to head off to the back 9, and league or event headed out for a shotgun start on the back 9. So we had to play the front 9 again. Would have been nice if they told us that, maybe could have squeezed on the back 9 first, I love that back 9.

 

Then yesterday played both Purdue courses, our 3 was the first group off at Kampen at 7:40. When we called the day before, they said they would be there at the range at 7. So we got there at 6:45, chipped and putted around, only to find out the range wouldn’t open until 8. Kinda a bummer. But the course was great as always. I couldn’t hit a putt to save my life, hit nothing outside of 4 feet.

Afternoon round at Ackerman was enjoyable as well, got my one birdie for the weekend (average about 1 birdie every 2-3 rounds as an 18 index), and was on fire on the greens, converting many 4-8 footers, which was great for the bingo-bango-bongo game we had going.

We are doing that same trip in July only difference is we are doing 2 days at the Purdue courses after Coyote Crossing. Very excited, any trip tips would be appreciated.

Good idea doing Coyote Crossing before Purdue. If you did them in reverse, you’ll wish you had stayed at Purdue. The place is that nice. I was just there for 36 yesterday.

Bottom line: you're not going to find a course open less than a week in better shape. It is quite a challenging track (at least the first time around). Not much room to miss, lots of uneven lies, plays longer than the card, and tricky natural areas. Well worth the visit though. 69/37 construction south of Martinsville sucks, so be mindful heading that way.

I’ve heard The Fort is walking only if that matters. Played Purgatory Wednesday and it was what I’d call a 7.5/10. I’ve heard Royal Hylands is where it’s at right now!

Personally I rank them Trophy then Purgatory then Fort. But I also rank Bear Slide over all of them.

Anybody had a chance to get to the pfau course at IU Bloomington yet? Was thinking of trying to get down there in the next few weeks to play. How are things looking? Any course feedback?

Welcome to the site. I'm in Noblesville and the rest of us are all around town and play when/where we can. Let me know if you'd ever want to get out for a round.

 

As for IU, it's a great track and well worth the trip, but it is challenging, or at least it was the first time through. Just not much room to miss anywhere.

I'd love to play soon. I'm working pretty hard to social distance though because I have a family member that is in a fragile health state. I could still play but would probably need to walk or ride separate and keep my 6 feet. I just got back from playing Stony Creek, for the cost, it was excellent. I moved to Fishers, IN from Speedway in March. LOTs of amazing golf options in the area. In the last 6 weeks or so Ive played Purgatory, Bear Slide, The Fort, Pebble Brook, Prairie View, and Plum Creek. The first three courses I mentioned are my favorite by far. But thanks for the welcome, I appreciate it! When you guys plan a group do you normally post in this thread? Just for reference I'm probably a 11-13 handicap or so.

Try Fox Prairie and Ironwood. Two more decent courses in the area, with Fox P having better conditions and Ironwood a great layout, especially the Lakes 9. Also, you might as well drive out and try Royal Highlands.

Actually i did play Fox Prairie and played Ironwood years ago in junior golf. I looked into Royal Highlands, looks like an awesome course. Ill give it a look, thanks for the recommendation.
