I attempted to keep my NCW's rust free with eezox, but the task became onerous. I now let a patina form and then oil them down and remove the rust with fine steel wool when I want to return them to their natural finish. Usually give them a coating of oil at the start of a month and then rub them down at the end of the month. Rinse and repeat.

This head has seen nearly 2 years of use and has been oiled and rubbed down with consistency.

I like to use 0000 fine steel wool.

Here are the results with no oil after one round in some light rain. I wiped them down and covered them, but to no avail. I plan to let them rust a fair bit and then I’ll return them to a satin finish.

Never been an issue Jason. I clean with a nylon brush and a small amount of dish soap and warm water first. Scrub all the dirt out of the 'nooks and crannies', before I apply the oil and go to work. I don't press the steel wool hard enough into the stamping to remove anything but the surface rust and grime. It takes a little 'elbow grease' to achieve the results I want, but I enjoy the time spent. I never let them rust to the point of being much more than a light patina. I'm not the golfer who would ever allow so much rust to form that it rubs off all over my bag. Heck, I wipe my leather grips down once a week.

I like steel wool because it can compress to almost any shape and be fit into hard to reach places (particularly good for cavities). I work with the grain of the iron head in long strokes, using shorter strokes around the edges. This leaves a 'satiny' finish'.

The steel wool will rust and small pieces of wool will break off during application so I'm careful to clean up well at the end. Wipe down with an oil rag and I'm ready to go.

Also, I have used Eezox, but also have had success with Sentry Solution Marine Tuf Cloths. The latter are less toxic and the rags are preloaded with oils and delivered in a resealable pouch.

Welp, down this rabbit hole I go. eBay auction described them as 'tour issue' ZM forged 8-PW. They're definitely raw and look pretty sweet. The PW marking on the sole is worn down, so I'm not sure how they were stripped or ground down. I'm guessing the PW had some grinding done to the sole. 8 iron measures at 274g, 9 is 284g, and pw is 284g. PW seems slightly light. I'm thinking about combing with some titleist cacity backs from that era.

Before and after....thought I was going to use the Patina juice right away, but I may wait.....I was worried about the utility, but it turned out just like the others- awesome! Got a set of BBF&Co Oso Grande coming for the odds-chrome set, evens are raw set for my 2 minimalist 10 club bags.

Here’s my first attempt with a set of Bstone J15cb.

I had the heads stripped by Industrial Plating in Omaha. Randy was phenomenal to work with. Best part is they charge $5 a head.

Im only painting the j because my first name starts with J I think I will do the numbers on the heel in an off white/ivory

Gorgeous! Was there anything done to darken them or is that just lighting/natural patina? They almost look like they've been treated with something, and it looks great!

Here is a COMBO set of Scratch irons i renovated for a customer. They are treated with a "Gun Blue" Black oxide who made them "grey blue" instead of Black.

Shafts is C-Taper S+, Grips is Gripmater Leather grips.

A few close ups...The Cavity heads became darker than the blades....but as a sum, heads, shafts and grips got a "stealth look" thats amazing.

Its visible that i DID NOT protect the hosel good enough turning down the ferrules (marks at the top of the hosel next to the ferrule)...my bad, it should be done better than this, but i hate turing ferrules.

The 2 wedges on top that belongs to the same set. They was Chromes plated, now stripped raw, with a "brushed/ satin" Gun blue black oxide finish

They all looked silly good in address position.

Probably going to sell 2 of those three sets. All three were in amazing condition before I had them stripped and they came out looking awesome I think
