Anyone go from no glove to glove and see tangible results?

I'm a long time non-glove wearer. Biggest reason I could never get fully comfortable with it on, second was the cost, and lastly I wanted to be like Freddie. I'm curious if anyone's gone to a glove after not wearing one and seen real tangible results with SS or some other metric. I will say my hands don't typically sweat that much but I do live in So Florida and it's inevitably going to be steamy.

I can’t play without a glove. Especially in Arizona where it gets so hot that you’re sweating every round. Plus my hands just get raw if I don’t

Did the reverse

went from glove to no glove probably 4-5 years ago, and I saw a positive difference almost immediately

I’ve been no glove for 20 years. Play 2x a week and my hands are not raw. I lose a sense of feel with the glove and I sweat a lot living in Texas.

Me too. With a glove, I tended to get my left hand in a weak position, too much on top of the club. When I took the glove off, I got the club more in my fingers, and my thumb down the right side of the shaft - my key is to get the left edge of my left thumb on the top center line.

I‘ve played without a glove for over 25 years. A couple of seasons ago I was having a tough time playing in very hot and humid conditions. I forced myself to practice with a glove so I could use it on those rare days when it was too humid to hold onto my club. While I’ve learned to play with a glove when absolutely necessary, I still prefer to play without one. It’s like wearing a condom—no feel and way less satisfying ;)

i’ve been no glove for 26 years. the only exception is in heavy rain then i wear two rain gloves.

when it's cold i can play without a glove no problem. But in midsummer i don't know how people do it. When your hands get sweaty and stuff i hate feeling the club moving around in my backswing

Completely agree. Put Golf Pride CP2 wrap on every club in my bag and went to no glove and have so much more feel. Started last fall and will never go back to a glove. So much more control and seems much easier to shot shape. Had to put on a glove at the range last night 95 and humid here and felt very awkward.

My hands get too sweaty with a glove. Then the hand slides inside the glove. It's a real nuisance. It's easier to just used full cord hard grips like golf pride z-cord.

A glove makes it easier to maintain a light grip on the club.

 

That's my reason for using a glove. It's a hard habit to break.

Can't remember last time wore a glove, at least 25 years, lose too much feel. Granted you need good grips, as some if get slightest moisture on them are impossible to hold without a death grip. I played Tour Velvets for years until discovered Iomic Sticky 2.3, been using those for past 10 years or so.

I haven't worn a glove for 25 some years. I stopped mainly due to cost. As a teenager just picking the game that was an expense I didn't need. Build up calluses tape on a couple fingers. Good to go. If it gets hot and humid, live in the mid Atlantic! I wear sweat bands and carry a towel.

I just went to no glove but also just installed Best Grips leather grips on my entire set. Definitely developing a couple calluses on my “glove” hand.

No glove for years except for the seriously humid 90 degree plus days. Need to keep the grips fresh, though.

Wipe your hands with a damp towel when it’s really hot and humid. No need for a glove ?

I played with no glove for a very long time because Freddie didn't use one and I'd wear a hole in the heel pretty quickly. I went back to a glove after I became very aware of the benefits of fresh grips helping with a lighter grip. I discovered that the wearing a hole in the glove issue had disappeared. I just retired a Callaway glove that I washed half a dozen times because the velcro wore out and wouldn't stay stuck anymore. Can't believe I used one glove that long!

If you like the added feel or touch from no glove, definitely make sure you keep grips fresh. I saw a video once of Freddie roughing up his grips with sandpaper.

I am contemplating going to no glove. Mainly due to when it gets hot and humid I have to alternate 3-4 gloves a round. When my hands stay dry a glove will last a long time. But once sweat gets in it, they are never the same again. I play the golfpride mcc +4 grips, I don't know whether or not those are good for no gloves.

I am a long time (30+ years) "no glover" - and I can't see switching over. Basically for sure the same first 2 reasons as teh OP (but yes, also the Freddie thing had some influence).

I'm not a big sweater +I use exclusively Winn Dri-tac grips. I also carry a small bottle of "grip solution" - which I only have to break out on the real bad days - 90+ w/75%+ humidity.

I played a long time without. I don't think it makes a difference score wise provided I have good grips. The grips you use and their condition are key.

Glove is key for me with my 2 finger overlap grip. That left hand needs the tackiness to maintain the grip pressure that works for me. Once a glove starts losing the tackiness on the thumb then it is time to grab the next one.

OP here. I had a conundrum when I went to go get fit for irons yesterday. I like my zcords with no glove but obviously fitters will use a basic, neutral grip. I swung my old iron around 4-5 mph faster than the ones I was being fitted for. My assumption was the grip didn't allow me to be as free. I dont think my pick of iron is ultimately influenced but it definitely caused me to overanalyze my trackman data to see why I wasn't getting that much distance gains on irons 9 years newer and 2 degrees stronger.

When I was a kid I wore a glove because my dad wore one...

When I came back to golf when I was in my 30s I bypassed gloves and I'm glad I did. The thingsI remember most about wearing a glove were how lousy they felt, how easy they were to lose and how quickly they wore out. I have no doubt premium gloves of today are worlds better than the crap glove I wore back then. And, I occasionally I wonder if wearing a glove could "help my game" but I get over the thought almost immediately.
