Tiger Woods 2019 Taylormade Irons...P7TW?

Mine were soft-stepped as the 37.5" was in the 9 iron. Hosel to first rib were different by 1/2" in the 9 and PW. Others have found the same.

yeah, I just figured it to that guy not knowing what he was talking about. so there’s no way to get them installed normally then?

Contact a pro builder that can obtain the heads and he will build them correctly. Just not sure if the P7TW heads are available as are other iron heads from TM.

I would guess that the guy from Taylormade is just misinformed about what a standard Dynamic Gold install actually is (you're supposed to use the same shaft 37" for the PW and 9 iron, Taylormade "standard install" without mention uses a 37.5" 9 iron shaft so everything is subsequently soft stepped). They seem to never install DG correctly so it's them just having incorrect knowledge. To get a normal install I am hoping it's ordering the set hardstepped 1x which I have done but waiting to receive. It's frustrating to say the least that they soft step as "their standard" as I may have to send them back if they don't come built correctly. I will let you know what hardstepping 1x get's you as a build!

Does anyone have the head weights of the 3-PW? Not sure if ordering tiger specs or not will effect head weight since tiger specs are listed as D4 and regular specs are at D3.

Happy to report that I just received my 4-PW order and getting the hardstepped 1x resolves the standard build issue of them soft stepping. The measurements from the PW and 9 are the exact same distance. I can't wait to hit them! They are the best looking irons I have ever seen.

Who’s the highest handicapper in this thread? What’s your experience with these irons? I’m around a 10 now and have always played a players iron even when I was a higher HC player. I know they’ll be less forgiving.. just wanted some feedback

Haha that’s never been confirmed, it’s always been a rumor. Even the interview WRX did with his old iron builder at Titleist didn’t admit to it.

Same currently! I was A 9.5 last year when i was playing alot right after the time i got these irons. I have a high swing speed so these irons dont cause any problems really for me. My struggles have always been my putting and wedge game anyways. If ima shank one it dont matter if i got blades or the easiest game improvement irons lol.. i find it ultra satisfying having a good round with these and im just playing for fun anyways. I love that i know my distances on a great strike so i play to that number. I cant remember the last time i played a back pin with these iron and nuked it over the green. I did that ALOT with my old set of irons because if i nutted one it flew 10+ yards further than i thought it would. Overall il be playing these for a very long time brother!

Quick question was hoping to find a single 5 or 6 iron p7tw for garage practice but I can’t find one. What other model mid iron is similar In look/feel to the P7TW’s I can pick up without breaking the bank? Don’t really care what brand.

I would add that the VR TW blade's offset is more like the standard-spec P7TW. Having tried the Nike Vapor Pro and VR Pro II, I find them very similar.

 

Feel-wise, the VR TW is pretty close to the P7TW.

Quick question - I could have sworn I saw less offset in the Tiger spec vs standard spec, and I thought i saw this listed in TM's web site awhile back. I just checked TM's site and it now seems that the Tiger spec and the standard spec have the same offset.

 

Was there a change, or do both versions have the same offset?

I thought they were the same heads and just adding loft to tiger spec also decreased the offset. Not sure if that is 100% correct or if there are two heads. But yes Tiger spec heads had less offset.

I loved the look and fell in love more after hitting them....tried all the blades. Blue prints were also nice but just too small. These are perfect size, shape, love the smaller grove lines.

Any trouble cleaning the grooves with them being tighter and narrower? I had the vr pros for a little while and felt like I could never get the dirt out lol

Exactly the same head, just the sole grind is different.

Not really - i have a groove cleaning brush (one side with metal bristles, the other side nylon). A wet towel, a quick scrub on the course, and it's ready for the next shot
