That’s a huge jump in carry distance. Crazy numbers. I’m getting mid 160 ball speeds with the Mavrik. Can’t wait until the Proto X gets here next week.

So I played around with the heavy weight on the proto x..went from back to front. Spin is a little lower..launch is a tad lower..not much..but forgivness on mis hits takes a hit. I spin it alot and into the wind today i did notice a difference in spin...some more roll our for sure...but man..the slightly miss hit shot you could feel. Toe side not too bad..bit heel side was low and spinny. I think I will try a more neutral weight set up when aftermarket weights are available. Dead center shots are so smooth...

Mine is finally getting here tomorrow (hopefully) and cannot wait to try it out. Going to have to be Sat at earliest as I’ll be gone until late with work tomorrow and Friday I’m cooking ribs on the smoker.

I haven’t been able to play with my + yet but hit balls everyday in my net at home. Most solid, best sounding driver I’ve ever had and I’ve used many in 30 years. Feels like hitting the ball with a 16lb sledgehammer. Can’t wait to get out there

I’ve used it extensively now. It’s an absolute bomber. Have been in some places that I’ve never been in before. I think it’s an upgrade over gen 2. I have the X+

Sat was a total dump of a day. Winds were 15-20mph steady and some gusts up to 30. Course was packed and we had to rush on well ahead of our tee time or we wouldn’t have finished the round. Didn’t get to hit it much on the range as I had the weight back and I was turning it too much so I didn’t play it during the round. Had the longest bomb on the practice range vs my Sim as my son was using my Mavrik. However wasn’t comfortable yet. Got to the range today to test it out. Put the weight forward and it performed well. Very long and I thought forgiving enough. Could still turn it over but not where it was a huge draw. Could hit it low through the wind or high (wind was still up today and dead into me at the range). Going to play tomorrow afternoon and winds are supposed to be down. Taking it with me to a course I’m familiar with to play. Great sound as others have mentioned and it does seem heavier compared to the regular Sim. .

I am loving mine as well. I did a 9 hole test against my Sim a couple of weeks ago playing two balls. I did the same over 18 last week. My best shots with the Sim were a little longer but not nearly as consistent on mishits. I haven’t been this confident in a driver for a long time. X+ head with the Yellow Smoke at 44.75 is working so well I sold my Sim head this past weekend on BST.

Arrived last week of course when I was in the middle of a nasty 9 day virus--non covid.

But made it into the office yesterday. Hope to get it out for a few holes today.

BTW, the packaging was the black box with the fully protected inside, as expected.

Still testing it out. Was able to still draw it a bit much and so tomorrow I’m putting the weight in the toe to see if that will help. Hitting it far and making good contact, just moving too far left. Even weakened my grip.

They moved the weight to the toe on TXG the other day and it made all the difference in the world!

Yes sir. I was going to put the weight on the toe and also go a little heavier to a Ventus 7X to see if that helps stabilize my swing. Will try and 7X first and then move the weight. I have another shaft in a 70ish gram I hit in it at first and I didn’t turn it over that much but it was just a stiff so I didn’t play the round with it. So I thought I’d try the 7X and see how it goes. Heading out around lunch to the range that’s only 2 mins from my house.

Forgot to mention while on the range I cleared the net about 230-240 out and it was a straight bomb. Nothing else came close (Sim or Mavrik both with Ventus Black 6X when I tried to draw it to see the difference) but that one was a big draw. Neither Sim or Mavrik could get even 3/4 way up the net. Wish it would have been straight as it would have been really long and then I could have used the laser to see the distance. I know range balls produce way more spin and height but I was using them for all 3 drivers so the comparison would have been even.

Ok today went great. Put the heavy weight out on the toe and it did help a lot. Still turning it over a little more than I wanted but I could live with it if needed as shots were solid, flew a good distance and ran when landing. Just would have to play outside the right fairway. Then I switched shafts to the Ventus 7X with the weight on the toe and the magic started to happen. Still carrying my normal distance but running like the wind when landing. Could still hit a high small draw if I wanted, high straight but then a low bullet when needed that was dead straight. Love it. Playing Sunday with it in the bag.

Mine was delivered this afternoon - Proto+ with Ventus Blue. Hit a couple of dozen on the range and played a quick 9. It is incredibly accurate. Side to side dispersion is noticeably reduced compared to my Epic Flash. Been playing a Rouge shaft for many years. Not sure how much of the accuracy is due to the head and how much is due to the shaft. The Ventus is almost an inch shorter than my Epic w/ Rogue. Could contribute to the accuracy. I was expecting distance to be slightly behind the Epic Flash. While the sample size if small (7 tee shots), distance was every bit as long, if not longer.

Playing 18 in the morning and a couple of times this weekend. High hopes for this one.

I'm a little confused by the proto description.

The 0811x Proto is meant for someone with a more level/downward strike? It has a low center of gravity to help launch the ball and it's considered a low spin head.

The 0811x + Proto has a mid center of gravity and is mid spin head. When I think of "+" driver I think of a G410+ or Sim/Mavrik Max type of driver for someone that needs help with launch, yet in the description of the proto + it's meant for someone who hits up on the ball.

Is the regular 0811 Proto more forgiving or is it the + model?

Has anyone been able to hit both and what was their experience?

The X is the lower spinning less forgiving model and only comes in 9*. The + is the higher launch, more forgiving, more spin model and only comes in 10.5*.

Anyone who has done a fitting recently, did they have a Ventus Black in the fitting cart for the Proto? Have one tomorrow and I've seen a shaft list but I'm hoping they have more options now than when it originally hit fitting carts in April.

I bought a Ventus black to pair after the fact and it’s a ridiculous combo. Between the Ventus black and RPG 472, Proto head gave my 7mph over Gen2 and dispersion is tighter than ever.

I agree. I have been messing with a Ventus Black and a Pro Orange in my Proto X+ and they have both been really good!

Went out again today with the Proto with Ventus 7X. Was driving the ball great today. The Proto was cutting through the wind and had one of my longest drives ever today on a Par 5 that I usually have to lay up on my second shot. It’s uphill into the wind with a lake on the left and in front. So you have to cover every yard to the green and bunkers on the right. Only had 188 to the front edge. Was a beautiful 2nd shot and almost made eagle (back pin made it a 209/yard second shot to the flag into the wind). Easy tap in birdie. Love the driver. Also drove the green on a short par 4. You have to get the ball up quickly as they have large trees in front and OB left as it’s all homes. Then over a ditch but only 255 to get on the front edge if you go for it. Or you lay up to the right About 200-220 but it’s narrow and then you hit a short wedge up. I easily got the tee shot up and over the trees and landed on the green flag high. Love the Proto.

I've got the same shaft (PX White T1100) in Gen 2 X & Proto X and I'm averaging 12 - 15 yards longer on the low end with the Proto. Numerous times I've gone 20 + yards longer with the Proto. If anybody's on the fence about this driver I'd go ahead and jump off and get one before they're gone. Glad I did!

Yes, improved dispersion when missing the center and significant ball speed gains when missing the center of the face.

I believe it was due to better spin and launch conditions. I have the Gen 2 X and XF. This head is lower spin, better launch and flight of the ball but if you need forgiveness and spin/higher launch, then the Gen 2 would be a better fit. I think this is best suited for higher swing players or ones who hit the center of the face regularly.

I was skeptical that they could improve on the looks of the Gen2 but boy was I wrong. Slightly deeper face, smaller from front to back, and a touch more open has this thing basically perfect. Will find out whether the performance is there this weekend.

Has anyone had issues with their requested specs being off? I ordered a proto driver at 44”with a swingweight of D4. Got my club today and they got the length right but swingweight is C9. Looks like they cut it down but did nothing to the head weight. Waiting to hear back if they will send me a weight kit so I can get the right SW.

Curious if the head weight is still 204 grams? That is what they promise...

My head weight is 198, without adapter. Head weight should vary based on shaft assuming they’re fitting for a swing weight.

Fuji 2.0 has a higher balance point than Smoke Yellow, so the head should weigh more to maintain a D4 if ordered with a Fuji versus a smoke.

204 is standard. It’s certainly not a promise.
