Bethpage reservation system

Quick question for those more knowledgeable. Coming up from Texas this weekend for a wedding on LI and am wanting to play Black as a single. Didn't have any luck booking online so looks like I am going to be in a walk up situation. As a single, do I need to camp out overnight or if I get to the course around 5:30 or 6 am, will I have issues getting on? Looking to play on Friday. Thanks!

Also, keep checking. The night before especially. A lot of cancelations.

If I could just add this, people have 6 hours prior to their tee time to cancel so they will not be charged. Keep that in mind.

EDIT: As a single, you should have no trouble getting on. Worst thing though is that you might have to kill some time waiting for your tee time. But i think that the phone thing is your best option.

Thinking of driving up from nj as a single tonight/tomorrow morning. I’m cool sleeping in my car if it means getting out significantly earlier especially since it’s 90 minutes now and certainly 2+ Hours if I wait until 5-6. But do you have to be there in time for the window knock? And it looks like the first tee time is 730 so let’s say I get there at 5, am I stuck waiting until 730 anyway just to get on the starter’s radar?

I know that this is a strange question for someone who plays Bethpage all the time but I never ran across a problem so I never had to be concerned with it. Each week or what ever the time frame is, Bethpage designates a course as the walk-up course. What exactly does that mean? I have an idea but does anyone know exactly? Thanks.

I always assumed it meant you could only walk up and play -- no advance tee times.

So, no reservations would be available?

I’m running into one problem after another. Last time was rain. Was planning to play Wednesday but now it’s looking like upper 90s. Might bite the bullet. Anyone take a caddie there? Thoughts on availability and price? And given the weather I’m thinking even as a single I should get there as early as possible and try to get get as close to 730 opening as possible. Any guesses on if 3-4 am would help me get on withint the first hour?

Caddie is only good for carrying your bag. If you want or expect anything else out of them it isn't worth it. You'll probably get on pretty early on a Wednesday, I don't even think you have to get there as early as you are planning, but don't quote me on that.

I saw this as well in the PDF they tweet out, as we're thinking about our Monday round, as it says the Yellow is "walk up", yet they have tee times available via the booking site. So maybe their notices (apart from closures) don't really mean much.

I'm planning on playing Bethpage in October so I'm checking the system now to see how it works. I'm not a New York resident and I'm registered in the system with my out of state address. I don't see any option on the account screen to select residency. When I click on Reservations from my account, the Non-Resident Black Course reservations screen comes up. If I change to another course, I'm brought back to the information screen. When I click on Non-Resident on that screen, a message saying, "You do not have access to that booking class," comes up. When I click OK on that, I'm brought back to the info screen. I can click Resident and get into the system. Is anyone else seeing this?

More importantly, what are my chances of getting an relatively early time as a single, either online or as a walk-up on a Saturday in October?

It is clunky AF. And it can jump around a little. But when you choose another course from the drop-down list on the teetimes page it should shoot you back out the main page, where you select resident/non-resident/etc...

If you always end back here you should be good: https://stage.foreupsoftware.com/index.php/booking/19765/2431#/teetimes

Did you try calling that 914 telephone number? However, that's only good approximately a week in advance of the tee time. Also, you can call 5162490700 [option 1] to speak to someone live in the golf office BUT I don't think that you can make a reservation using that number. You can explain your question with them.

Just tried to get a tee time for next Thursday. The times open up at 7:00pm. I had all my info loads and ready to go. Refreshed every 2-3 seconds in case my 7:00 was different than the system's 7:00. As soon as it hit 7:00 my earliest option was 10:15. I clicked on it and was informed that time was no longer available. What a crock of shit. The staff is obviously still selling times that are set aside. My brother in law had an "in" up until a year ago. The foursome would pay $125 or $150 for the spot. They still paid the greens fees but they were able to purchase a weekly time from an employee under the table. How could it be that the second the lines are opened up......the first 35 or so spots are gone? Answer me this....what ISN'T corrupt anymore?

Sorry if I’m hijacking the thread, but I’m an out of stater heading to the Black for the first time this Thursday. I made a 230 tee time but was curious if it’s realistic to think I’d finish 18 with around 4+ hours of daylight. I know they just aerated a few days ago, so I don’t know if that makes it less busy (probably not). What time do they kick you off the course?

Also, I know I have to be there an hour ahead of my time, but would they let me on before my scheduled time if there was a single

If your a single, you will have no problem getting out. Just go to the cashier and look at the board. You can also go online the night before your playing and pickup a cancellation.

The monthly walkup course rotates. There is 1 time per hour available through the reservation system for the walkup course. All other times are FCFS basis.

The computer reservation system is tricky. Your computer needs to be fast to lock in the tee time once the clock strikes 7. There are ALOT of golfers who play Bethpage. Everyone is trying for times before 9am. There are also many clubs that play out of Bethpage. Some play weekdays but most play weekends. ALL their members are usually trying to get times.

Best piece of advice I can give someone who wants to play the Black is go during the week. There's usually spots available......

There's no way you will finish 18 with a 2:30 tee time at this time of year. You can try to get there early and slot into an earlier time, you probably have a decent chance at that.

Sorry if this is posted or irrelevant to the topic of this thread at this point but:

A good loophole is to get a tee time for a different course for early in the morning and then when you go to check in, see if there is available times for the actual course you want to play. They usually have times for the Black course open pretty early on the weekends. The group of guys I play with noticed that even though they might not be available for registration online, I think they still have those tee times early to keep the novelty factor of having to show up early on the day you want to play to get a tee time. Granted we were getting to Bethpage at like 6am to check in (you have to be there an hour before your tee time) and they had openings for the Black course when we were there. Might not be worth it for an out-of-stater but could be for someone within an hour or so drive. Also they have a breakfast buffet there that is amazing and it is only like $15 a person.

Not totally certain what's going on but about 2-3 weeks ago a shady Facebook page popped up selling "guaranteed" tee times on the Black for triple the price. Within a few days the page was gone, but last week Bethpage sent out a notice saying the reservation system has been updated to include CAPTCHA verification. So clearly there has been some sort of foul play that might not be fully rectified.

Seems like there are some tee times appear between 12-3am or early in the morning from those who stayed up too late and can't make next morning tee times.

I picked one up at 2:30am and teed off 6 hour later at the Yellow.

Front 9 was okay consider I was delirious from lack of sleep.

Then the fatigue set in and back 9 fell apart.
