I guess Jacklin feels he needs attention .. he must have bumped into Greg Norman

no need to crap on Sergio. He didn’t win majors .. but he’s had a great career in golf and is a Ryder Cup superstar

IMO Olazabal is probably one of the most underrated players of all time. He was as talented as anyone at a young age and during his amateur years.

Look at his amateur wins. Probably would have been the best amateur player in the world at that time if there was ranking list.

He had a foot injury issue as early as 1993 which impacted his walking and by 1995 he was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. It got to a point where he couldn't walk and missed the latter end of 1995 and the entire 1996 season.

He was never the same after that which makes his 1999 Masters evermore remarkable.

If Garcia had Ollie's putting and Ollie had Garcia's driving, they would have achieved so much more.

Good point.

Golf is so obsessed with ball striking. The assumption is because you are a good ball striker you must be a good player! It's nice to strike the ball well but golf is so much more.

How about the 18 handicapper who applies himself perfectly but just lacks talent. Such a disappointment.

Tony Jacklin criticising another golfer's courage is like Lance Armstrong calling someone else a cheat.

Tony lost the '72 Open and admitted that Trevino chipping in had broken him - he was done at the age of 28.

Compare that to Sergio, who was very unlucky in the '07 Open and contended in majors many other times - but hung in and finally landed the Masters much later. I can understand why Sergio has his critics, but to come back from a mid-career confidence crash and so many close calls, and get it done in the way he did in 2017 in the playoff was extremely impressive.
