Matching to Callaway Uniflex iron shaft (X-22s) - Nippon or Dynalite XP?

I am looking to replace my wedges and have been advised that i should seek to match the shaft on the Gap and PW to my existing set. However i'm struggling to find matches to the shafts on my irons due to the lack on information on them. Can anyone advise on specs and possible matches? I have been looking at the Nippon Modus Tour 105 (stiff) or the Dynalite XP S300. Thoughts?

PS: on wedges i have tended to have heavier shafts but to be fair that has been on SW and LW. I wouldn't be averse to a small weight increment on the PW and GW however as i find the existing set up to feel a bit light in the shorter clubs.

See the attached link to the Golfworks OEM shaft replacement guide for Callaway. For the X22 they recommend a shaft rated 3B2M in the 104-115g weight range. If there was an obvious choice in after market shafts they would list it, so you have a number of choices. Dynalite XP would certainly be an option, Nippon GH1050 would also work. 3B2M shafts are R flex and 4B2M are stiff, you can go either way for wedges depending how firm you want.

Personally, I'd go for something like the DG115 wedge shaft or the Nippon Modus Wedge 105 or 115. I wouldn't use the standard Modus 105 iron shaft.https://www.golfworks.com/images/art/Callaway.pdf

Many thanks. Unfortunately the link won't load for me as i am outside the USA (i'm in the UK). Does the link simply say 3B2M or does it give any further specs on the X22 shaft? Thanks again.

The link only says 3B2M, they show that for all the Callaway irons which had uniflex shafts back to the old Memphis 10 shaft. Look also for 3B2H, most of the steel shafts over 100g are H. I think they gave the weight range because its a .370 tip, so 104g in the wedge up to 115g in the 3 iron - could be why your short irons feel a bit lighter. If you go with Nippon I think from a weight perspective the GH1150 would be better than the GH1050.

The standard Callaway replacement shaft for all those X line clubs was always the TT Lite shaft R/S. Think the raw weight was 118g give or take. Not sure you can find that shaft anymore other than Ebay. The Dynalite will have a more similar feel to it than the Nippon. That's not to say you may not like the Nippon though but will feel a bit different.

I looked in the original Callaway 2008 and 2009 Pocket Reference Guides. For stock steel shafts...

The X20 had the Callaway Uniflex Steel shaft, weight range 121-106 grams / low torque / mid kickpoint.The X22 had the TT High Launch Uniflex Steel, weight 121-106 grams / low torque / mid kickpoint.These appear to be an early AWT concept, with long-iron shafts lighter than short-iron shafts. I had the X20 irons for a couple of seasons, and was surprised at how well the 3i launched. Research indicated the Uniflex fell on line between R and S, and would be an OK shaft for a wide range of golfers.

For your PW and GW, some choices from Nippon:

Modus.3 Tour 105 Stiff would be 106.5 grams with mid launch.NSPro 1150GH Stiff would be 116 grams with mid launch.(I assume your wedges have taper-tip 0.355" hosels)

You might want to try the Maltby Forum as Britt Lindsey from Golfworks has stated there the Score Lt shaft was the Callaway uniflex shaft that they purchased the excess stock from. There were two score shafts the Score and the Score Lt, but you might get a good answer from Britt and maybe even the exact shaft. Good luck!
