Played Southern Oaks today. Really good track and is in good shape. I wish the greens had been cut shorter but they still rolled true.

Anyone played Firewheel Lakes or Luna Vista recently? Those are a couple I haven’t been out to in a while.

I play LV regularly, it's in good shape...new superintendent (from the Tribute) is getting the greens looking good...have not punched the greens yet but has been doing frequent light topdressing and they are smoother. The rough is Tall, bring balls :)

Split Rail in Aledo is in fantastic shape and is such an extremely good value as well.

Played Texas Ranger CG yesterday and it is in fine shape but i just don't think it is worth the price tag. Would much rather save the $40 and play Texas Star. I can't see how they were going to have a Korn Ferry tournament there as they would go crazy low.

 

I need toy get to Split Rail as i always hear of good things about that place.

So my buddy and I really enjoyed Luna Vista today. Like you said, the rough is tall. I lost balls on 1, 9, and 13 in the rough. I saw the general area where they landed, and they were gone. I’ll be out there again this summer. It’s a fun one and an easy walk.

Played Watters Creek today and I was really impressed. The condition of the course was very good. I'll be going back for sure.

Great! I will probably see you out there as I work as one of the golf pros (the Old guy). I have new ProV's that I'm not willing to lose yet, using water balls til the rough gets Mowed!

I used to enjoy WC, only hole I didn’t like was #6, just never set up well to my eye or game for that matter.

I like TR better than Texas Star. Played Split rail last week and really enjoyed it. They understand that is very difficult to get Covid outside and the course is operating as normal. (I really enjoyed that)

That’s a big reason why I like split rail right now also. It’s got such a tremendous mix of holes also

Yes I agree they would go low. Little to no trouble on that course at all.

For those that have played Indian Creek recently, were they allowing the ball to go into the cup? Also, how were the conditions?

I don’t mind if there is something in the cup to raise the ball, but wanted to make sure the ball could actually drop somewhat.

The ball is actually able to drop into the hole at Indian Creek. I’m pretty sure the cup was flipped upside down...could be wrong. I’ve played a few different courses lately, and can’t remember what each course is doing until I get there and start playing again.

 

The only one I’ve played out there is the Lakes course. Greens are on the slower side, but they’re rolling nicely. Fairways are in good shape overall. A couple of fairways near the water lines look rough, but that’s probably because of the occasional flooding. Good price for walking. No idea about the conditions of the Creeks course.

Coyote Ridge this morning. Course was in good shape and they had the rakes in the bunkers, ball washers, bathrooms open on the course, and cart girls working the course. Fine course but i don't think it is worth the $85 or what ever it was. More like $60 and i would play it more often. Still hate number 10 and the hole just makes no sense. They need to move the tee down the landing area in the fairway and play it as a par 4. We played the front in under 2 hours but once we hit 10 it slowed way down and every time i looked at the tee box there was at least 2 groups on it so it slowed the pace down for the whole course.

Coyote Ridge is not a good golf course. The front nine the houses encroach and the back nine is squeezed into such a tiny parcel of land. 10 is problematic. So is 11. The green on 18 is cantered away and hard to hold. It’s just average.

Likewise at Westridge today - two people to a cart, rakes back in the bunkers, no foam in the cups, etc. Still not putting water coolers out and as far as ball washers each cart has a club/ball washer mounted on it. I think the grill is limited to 50% capacity but it looks like social distancing is no more based on the crowd and those gathered at the range.

Greens used to be (I haven't played there this year) very nice. Agree, front nine is decent, it is house lined, though if you put in a yard, you're way off course.

Back nine stuffed into an area that should really have 7 holes.

I remember when took my son there, when he played Junior Golf, his exact words were, "Dad, I don't like this course"....I said, neither do I but it was cheap to play.

As a lefty the entire front nine plays to my fade and if the wind is howling ( and it does ) the houses on 6 are pretty close as you stay left of the water on the right. As a right handed golfer the front nine only gets in the way of smothered hooks

Number 10 is quite possibly the most hokiest of holes in the metromess. I don't have that 330 yard high fade that it requires off the tee.

Before they let the overgrowth on 11 close the back tee box 10 and 11 back to back could easily have been the dumbest 2 hole stretch ever. From the back tees 11 was 235 yards uphill into a hurricane with a tiny green perched above death all down the left side. Everyone forgets how crappy the course is with the elegance of the clubhouse and the cart girls. It’s a Sam Moon Jedi mind trick

Sure, many times. They weren’t closed for much more than a week, iirc.

Flagsticks still stay in, no bunker rakes, but back to two riders per cart. Still the same good course and great greens.

Texas Star is in really great shape tee to green. Played it for the first time. Greens could be a little better but I’m nitpicking.

I played it last weekend and agree it is in great shape. Still 15 min tee times and single riders in carts which i love as the pace of play is fantastic.
