Do these irons match their ebay description?

What qualifies as 'great condition'? I certainly don't think these fit the bill because of the dings on multiple clubs, but condition is open to interpretation through the pics provided. There's obvious wear to some of the faces from the pics the seller provided, and if you expected pristine condition, I certainly would've asked for more close-ups with additional angles to verify before purchasing.

They'd have a not as described claim files and returned.

Regarding received condition vs description I am on the side of item not as described and eligible for a return on that basis. I don't see how you could use the New Other category for an item in this condition.

The bigger question to deal with is are they still worth it to you for the price paid. Those are older and desirable clubs that are difficult to come by in great condition at a great price.

Outside of the disappointment of expecting "like new" and receiving clearly used, do you want to end the search with these or would you rather return the item and continue the patience game of waiting for "The Ones".

I have been in this position many times with various clubs and putters and it usually comes down to "Is the condition acceptable to fulfill my desire for the item?" or "Would I rather wait and gamble on a better deal coming along?"

Your time is an important part of the decision and setting up alerts on the bay and continuing the search can be fun but can also be draining.

I would send them back. You paid like $1000 USD for a set that could be had for $400 with a little patience. Hell I bought a set and had them stripped raw for less than $400.

I sold an Evnroll Tour Stroke trainer on eBay that the buyer returned with an "Item not as described" reasoning. He said that there was more offset than was pictured...... the offset being the entire point of the club. Also I included an address picture so... yeah. I just accepted it and moved on with my life. People are awful.

Anyway, these irons are absolutely not as described. I would have been upset as well.

I’d see if the seller would offer a partial refund, if not I would definitely return them. Describing them as “new(other)” really set the seller up for failure as they clearly are not new or close to new.

I don’t purchase often on eBay, but the heading (New/Other) is strange - is it New, or not? That’s a Yes or No question to me. Saying they’ve been played for a few rounds immediately signifies not New to me...so I wouldn’t have expected New.

That said, I probably would have bailed just based on the Seller trying to obfuscate the condition by calling them New....

That is a clear misuse of the "New (Other)" condition category, which is defined as follows:"The new, unused item has absolutely no signs of wear. The item may be missing the original packaging or in the original packaging but not sealed. The item may be a factory second or a new, unused item with defects. See the seller’s listing for full details and a description of any imperfections"

You don't get to use "New (Other)" on something that is clearly used. This is basically an even worse version of people that throw around "Mint/Minty" just because they think it is in nice condition. This will be an open and shut "Item not as described" cased with eBay if you send them those wear photos, which I recommend you do. If he had listed this as "Used" then you could STILL likely pull off the same claim given that he clearly hid some of these smaller damage details, but it is a no brainer with how he listed it.

Leaving negative feedback first was probably the wrong move however, but it shouldn't impact your ability to return the item.

I haven't had to do this in awhile, but I believe eBay/Paypal will put a lock on the funds once the return is underway and will release the money to you once the item has been delivered. He does not get the option of "hanging on" to the money as that would lead to the case you're concerned about with unscrupulous sellers.

I understand what the seller is likely feeling here though given that it sounds like you pretty much did the entire escalation process in reverse order, hah. Normally you contact first, express concern over item condition, and ask if there is anything the buyer can do for you. You have the power of an "item not as described" return AND negative feedback at that point unless the seller makes you whole. Negative feedback is normally the last bullet you fire, but by leaving it first, you lost most of your leverage because i'm pretty sure eBay will remove negative feedbacks if there was no communication prior to it being left. Without that leverage, the seller will just tell you to kick rocks if you try to ask for a partial refund because at that point, right or wrong, he is going to feel bullied. I think he deserves it given how he listed the item, but i'm just letting you know what you're likely having a tougher time here.

Wait......someone paid close to $1k for some old A....S clearly used VR blades!? I am sitting on a gold mine of old Nike crap then!

OP I would have NEVER bought those and assumed they were new(other) you can see the nicks and face wear in the short clubs. Those have been played for several rounds or range sessions. A few times is a flat out lie. Good luck in the return but the pictures from the original auction (eBay item number:264717252238) do not hide what you received.

They’re relisted already. USED CONDITION. But now they include a 2 iron? And the 2 iron has a different stamp from the set? I think It’s from a completely different set. And now the set has been played at least 10 rounds!

ebay item # 264753157712

STUNNING NINE VR II PRO 2 - P IRON SET (9x IRONS)

Nike VR Pro Blade Irons 2-PW. A beautiful set of irons that are in great condition. A very few marks on the faces from use. Standard length, with dynamic gold AMT S300 stiff shafts. Grips: NEW Golf Pride Tour Wrap microsuede Grips. These just cost £80. Lovely and soft but grippy too!

This set has been used lightly and have been used around 10 rounds and are in good used condition. They were too stiff for me to use, so they have sat in a box in the loft, hoping one day I might be able to hit them, sadly not, I haven’t seen a set in this great almost new condition on eBay for a long time, the last new ish set sold for £899 so I’ve marked these appropriately. Thanks for looking.

Standard length, lie, loft, excellent condition really are great and i haven't seen a set in as great condition as there RRP £1299 for this set in 2014 so grab a very rare set in very good condition!!

Had the 2 iron stamped with RG the only difference to others. Great set in good condition with usual bag clatter, faces and grooves amazing condition, also the fact its a rare set with the 2 iron that Tiger used to hit those stingers with!!

Are the club imperfections, in the pictures I took, clearly present in the ebay pictures? That is the damage I believe was misrepresented.

If you do have Nike clubs in better condition than this seller you very well could be sitting on a gold mine if you want to PM me.

Appreciate the responses.
