Your call but unless you really need the waterproof capability I would suggest you consider the Players 4 bag instead. It is the exact same weight but the pockets are much more user friendly, particularly the rangefinder pocket which is effectively useless on the Stadry. It’s cheaper too ;)

Vessel VLX bag is now on their site: https://vesselbags.com/products/vlx?variant=32218902462524

At first glance, looks like a great bag for caddies since the pockets are the same on both sides so caddies can double bag. But it's missed the padding for your back that the Vessel Lite bag has on it, plus the listed weight on the VLX bag is actually higher than the Lite bag. It reminds me of the shaping of the Stitch SL1 bag but with more storage.

Apparently, the StaDry material is easier to wipe off if it gets dusty or dirty. My course has golf cart paths that get very dusty in the dry weather. The guys in the golf pro shop said that is why they prefer the StaDry over the Players 4. Wet towel wipes the dust away.

After weeks of testing and trips to golf shops to look at / feel bags I settled on a 3.5LS as my new carry bag.

I got it in today and the digital scale says 3.4lbs vs 5.3lbs on the UA bag it’s replacing.

First outing was outstanding. Love the range finder pocket so the holder isn’t dangling off the side!

Bag feels noticeably lighter than the UA. The trade off over the UA is the lack of a second velour valuables pocket and the UA bag has a pouch where the 3.5LS has tee slots. Might ask my mom or sister if they can fashion something like that on the new bag.

Only thing I can’t figure out is what the clip above the tee slots and below the handle is intended to be. Anyone know?

Haha I just came in here to post an update.

After the second go round, the bag popped a rivet near the top handle. Sun Mountain says they want it back to repair rather than replace.

This is the first defect I have had with any of their products, so I will not let it be an indictment of the quality of this product unless it happens again.

Ugh, how frustrating. I get they want it back, but why not ship you a new one with a prepaid return label for the old one? A few extra $s on their part but way better customer service approach.

Small top diameter too. I get it if you want a sweet high-end bag, but if you want to carry and go Vessel the Players Lite seems like the better choice. I couldn't stomach that sort of price difference when you could buy a season's worth of premium balls with the savings.

FWIW I think Ping is back to work, my local PGASS got in a shipment of Ping bags the other day. Haven't seen a CEL there in 2 months and suddenly they had them again.

I just got the Nike sport lite and its a TIGHT top.....almost too small.....but its light and easy to carry. Im not fussy about pockets so they are fine....the only pet peeve is the way it sits on my back...wish it was aangled differently but the straps do not make it easy to angle better so the clubs are not close to falling out, I lean 10 degrees to the right and im picking up clubs off the ground,

Right now I have a TM Flextech crossover. I have been doing more carrying than ever this year and I'm interested in getting a more light weight bag. The only feature I will miss giving up is the insulated pocket on the Flextech... it's not a deal breaker, but does anyone know of a light weight bag (3.5~ or less) that has one?

I have been looking at all the ones listed in this thread and they all seem to be non-insulated. Thanks!

I've noticed that feature missing on most lightweight bags too. When I was carrying a minimalist bag, I switched to using an insulated water bottle. Now I use an insulated bottle whether I carry, push, or ride.

To quote the Grateful Dead, it's been a long strange trip...

I joined a club for the first time earlier this year and started walking more often than not. My Titleist bag was fine but not exactly lightweight thus I began searching for a new carry bag. I found this thread right away and began monitoring it. I looked at all the bags mentioned at the beginning at my local PGASS but none of them were exactly what I wanted. I ordered and subsequently returned bags from two smaller brands (Shapland and Jones) because the straps just didn't work for my large frame (6'3"/240). The one bag that I kept coming back to was the new Ping L8 but I wanted a double strap. As I was trying to decide what to do I came across this thread.

In it, posters went back and forth about the original L8, the Ping Hoofer 2, the J Bag, etc. and I realized that those older bags were actually perfect for what I want. I began surfing eBay just to see what was out there and was stunned to find this all but brand new K56 available with a buy it now price of $50 + shipping so I decided to pull the trigger. I think the thing I like about it most (other than the phenomenal build quality) is how compact it is. It really is the perfect size with just enough room for what I need. Putting both straps on is a cinch though I find myself often just carrying with one strap like the old days. Is it perfect? No. The legs droop a bit while carrying and there is no padding so you can feel the shafts of my irons on my lower back but other than that, it's a home run and I couldn't be happier.

On to the pics or it didn't happen :)

Picked up a Titleist Players 4 Carbon. Versatile bag and surprisingly durable given how lightweight it is. I carry a full set so the squeeze is a bit tight but it’s nothing that’s too inconvenient. Makes for a nice walk. Sharp looking too in the Titleist Black/Red.

The 2020 Titleist Backpack Straps are miles ahead of the 2018/2019 models.

My SM 2.5+ got the seal of approval from a caddy last Friday. That's about the highest compliment you could get for a lightweight bag.

Thanks! What’s funny is, it comes in right at 4.5 pounds but I swear over half of that is the straps which are way heavier/thicker than they use now. The bag itself is very light and balances so well I often don’t even bother with the second strap.
