Justin Rose leaving Honma ???

I just picked up a set of 747P for dirt cheap to muck around with, agree that they are indeed nice sticks.

Well they tried to put as much of a pretty face on that statement as they could. Not sure I ever remember a deal going from all in to all out that quickly. Probably won't ever get the full story either.

edit - the Bubba/Volvik marriage didn't last long either. I wonder if JR made his Honma decision with the haste Bubba did his.

I have a set with 5 rounds on them now. They have been really good in every way. Very forgiving easy to hit. Extra yards. Seems to be enough stopping power. Still look new as well. How is it for you?

The story on WRX turned out to be more interesting than the actual story.

I only have 1 round on them, unfortunately, so not enough data. From the one round, they hold up well to bag chatter, get airborne super easily, and feel really good when struck despite not being forged.

The bad - I got them (at a steal) with stiff graphite, which just doesn't suit me. Otherwise, everything about them is pretty good. I may hold onto them, or list them here eventually. Time will tell

I bet he is quite happy with that! Major winner, world number 1 and 7th in the career money list but steps off the golf course and hardly anyone will know who he is. Sounds pretty much perfect to me.

Yeah through 5 rounds they look brand new except one scratch on my pw. Its the beat hold up ive seen so far of any irons i played. I got mine in nippon 95 reg. Seems to be just fine. Maybe change your shafts if they were at such a low price? I just like that they are borderline players distance and game improvment its unique for sure.

Another example of how signing big names is tough on the brands trying to break into the main stream in the US. When the player struggles, the club gets blamed.

Of course, one way to get main stream brand recognition is by singing a big name.

Bubba was going through an illness and some personal problems right after he signed with Volvik. Super unfortunate timing for Volvik.

Yeah, we heard that he was sick, but not about the personal issues. Bubba had lost a bunch of weight and basically lost a season. But I do have to say, his performance with the Volvik was still pretty bad, all things considered.

Justin may just go the route of Koepka and others with a mixed bag that works for him. Honma does not have much publicity outside the Asian market, even though their irons and wedges are excellent, similar to Mizuno.

Interestingly, Justin's use of Honma spurred my interest in them & I eventually picked up a 737 3+ and 5 wood. Still have them in the bag, damn fine heads, classic size but kinda low tech. Nice ting sound when hit solid. I hit it so well with the stock Vizard shaft. I'm just going to leave it alone. Best thing, I didn't pay a song for it either being a 737 (not the 747 hotness at that time). Great products from Honma and from my perspective, if JR didn't play them I would not have noticed them at all...
