SIM driver guys - talk about it

I'm changing for the same reason. Good drives were totally nuked, but mishits had that really odd behavior that you get when the ball is knuckling.

I'm in the same boat... The honeymoon phase. I had my best round in the last 2 years with my 9° Sim. I play it in the upright setting (diamana/stiff)nd have been hitting 285-295 which is a new high for me but there is definitely a slight fade going on that I'm not used too. My normal miss was a hook or push so to be playing a fade now sometimes puts me just in the rough.. I have the weight in the heel and may try to put it more centered or toward the toe since all I'm reading says to put it toward your miss.

I love the new lower ball flight I'm getting and hope these results will hold... (I know it's up to me).

Sim Max first round paired up with a Speeder 661. Money. I went lower to 9* from playing SIM and Sim Max D 10.5. The Regular Max is so good. Forgiving like my G400 Max . Dare I say that!!!

Same. Played my second round with the Max today in higher wind. Hit some bombs and felt like I got away with murder on a couple of swings.

My only nitpick is that it “feels” a little lighter at the head weights I’m used to, but I will keep on adjusting and maybe add a few more grams of melt later on to fine tune.

What did you guys find the main differences between Sim and Max drivers and fairways??

I found the Max easier to hit. I found the Sim longer - both with stock shafts - I feel as though a Max with a good solid shaft would be a winner.

The Sim Max fairway is easier to launch than the Sim TI - But The max is hookey -The TI has a better flight. Over a few rounds with both I hit better shots with the Max I must admit.

Sim Max woods with Tour AD DI 6 and DI 7 incoming.....

They are fantastic woods

For me the sim is heavier, and lower spin. Easier to play into the wind.

max wanted to spin up on me. Sim just plows through it.

both are long on calm days. Sim just Better Into the wind and from a SW perspective

I’m looking at the SIM Max 10.5 with the Smoke Green 6.5 but hearing the fade bias talk about the regular SIM has peaked my interest.

That is purely based on shaft and club delivery to the ball.

Once I got my sim max dialed in with the right shaft, I can flight it down into the wind or higher with the wind.

I will agree that the regular sim is lower launching and more fade bias.

Pretty much. The switch to the Max sorted that all out, my good drives go a little bit higher now but mishits are way better.

This is encouraging to me. I just got fit for Sim Max fairway which picked me up about 20 yards in the air over my G410 which was spinning WAY too much. I also like that my natural shot is a tight little draw with it. I feel much more accurate when I can turn it over without having to work for it. The guy I bought it from was also selling a Sim Max 9* driver. I got fit for a Sim in 8 but didn't like the right miss. It was SO long when hit well but I don't want to worry about that shot on course. I also know how much MOI I'd be giving up with Sim vs my LST 410. Hoping the Sim Max is long but still stable. The Ping can spin up on me at times.

I’d say this is fade biased. I have the velocore black and stock crush is a dead straight ball to a baby fade, I use 10.5 to ensure no knuckles and I haven’t really move the weight to see if I can go baby draw

I just dumped my Callaway Flash that I though would serve me through this year. A young friend of mine who plays mini tour events in Fla in winter and Mi Pga events in summer hooked me up with a 10.5* Sim Max with a true Ventus Blue. I normally play my drivers at 44.5" so this Max at 45.75" scared the hell out of me. But I thought i'd give it a shot. Three rounds in and this thing is a godsend. I know people have been saying it has a right bias but for me its point and shoot. Nothing but dead straight or just a baby cut. I'm 71 now but I'm hitting this back to places I was ten years ago. Blew the Flash away in distance and accuracy. Same for my Ping G400 (I was fitted for both). I never would have changed but on this guys urging to give it a try I'm sold. And I'm not even thinking of shortening it. I don't want to upset the Mojo.

@getitdaily ......we had the discussion about M5 vs SIM......not totally sure what is all involved but I've read both this thread and the bigger thread(62+ pg) The M5 definitely feels "deader" off face than SIM and probably spins more.....i say probably because I haven't been on a LM head 2 head.....
My first foray into SIM world didn't go so well and actually lead me to the 9* M5 .... again a very steady driver but wasn't as long as my previous M3 or EFSZ.
My background: lefty , almost 55 yo, broken body that's only producing 90mph CHS.....I'm pretty much a low launch, low spin kinda guy and desire more consistent launch with too much spin.....tried a 410+ 10.5* but those were moonballs and spinny, never got around to hitting 9* head.....
Gave the speedzone/ speedzone xtreme, mavrik/ mavrik sz , ts3 and a few others a look not even considering SIM after my January experience.....my club guy said "give this a shot " handing me 10.5* with FENTUS BLUE 6R.....not too bad then he found a FENTUS RED 5R and on the LM we saw gains.....control wasn't great as shaft didn't allow aggressive moves.....he allowed me to take it on the course with FENTUS 5R and on the range it felt really loose even for me!
Well after playing speedzone for the first few drives , I hit SIM on the 9th hole.....this is stock length 45.75" ....... mid/hi flight and straight.....hitting it a few more times made me realize that only the smoothess tempo could make this combo work......
Out of the blue, my club texts me a picture of a what he felt could be shaft perfect for my swing and needs.....Fuji atmos tour spec RED 6R......I swing(no pun intended) by and grab this from him .....shaft comes in at 45"
I get an invite to a very nice course Banyan Cay, from a good friend and proceed to hit nothing but high(relatively) straight shots ......baby fades or tiny draws if I caught in the toe which is my miss.....didn't see massive gains of overall distance but the flight improvement is what I needed......

I will try a 9* just to make sure but really happy with this club!

I'm not sure where the narrative is coming from "the Max having a right bias". I just haven't seen it. My bad miss is a high right block (swing induced sometimes LOL). In three rounds now and some range time I have yet seen it. Dead straight or a nice baby cut. YMMV of course.

My only complaint with the LST is that it is a bit higher spin than I’d like. I have it set to 8* but it’s still there. Misses are very playable though and I rarely ever hit a driver with it that isn’t playable. Super stable. Hoping the Max retains most of that but adds a bit of punch. With how good of a driver the 410 is though my hopes aren’t immense haha

I would say it is significant. I don't think the movable weight is necessary to performance unless you are extremely consistent in your swing and want that final level of fine tuning. If are a regular joe. As most of are, you will be completely happy with the MAX and not even notice the missing slider.
