Zac R’s WITB- Big updates!

Recommended Posts

I am finally Happy with my set up enough to make a WITB.

I don’t care to change gear too often. I like to really work with my clubs for a long time and I rarely chase the latest gear.

Recently I’ve found myself hitting the ball the best I have in years. The biggest change was going from my Cleveland CG4 Tours which I played for about 10 years or more and switched to a cheap set of Titleist 710MB I picked up for $150. The 3 iron will probably get swapped out for a third wedge at some point but I feel like I don’t really need that either. The 60 and 54 Vokeys can handle most situations and yardages I come across and don’t feel the need for a 5 wood so for now it’s staying.

August 18th, 2020

Well I started to mess around with my bad some more since the last update. Right now I’m golfing 5-6 times a week and my game is better than ever. Down to a solid 4 Handicap!

First addition is the new Ping G410 LST driver with Fujikura Speeder 660 TR. got fitted for this a while back and I’m just starting to get used to it. 10.5 degrees, weight set in the heel, playing at 45”. This will stay in the bag for a long time.

I also made a putter change. Was not really looking but they had this TaylorMade Ardmore 3 sitting in the pro shop at my club one day when I was just browsing. Absolutely loved the address and it just suited my eye right away. Been in the bag since and putting with confidence.

Irons are still the Titleist 710MB’s. Nothing really to say here. Consistent irons for me, no reason to change right now other than wanting the latest and greatest. Playing a 4-PW with Dynamic Gold S300 shafts.

Picked up a G400 3 wood and hybrid as well for a good deal off another member here. A nice change from my dated 3 wood prior and hybrid.

Also changed my wedges out to some Titleist Vokeys SM6. 52,56,60. Great gapping for me, ideal bounces for my home course.

At the same time I started playing a Medium size grip on all clubs. The feel is nice, almost like I can relax my hands a bit more. The Winn Grips are definitely my new go to.

I also switched to the Bridgestone Tour B XS ball. Very much enjoying the feel of it, especially around the greens.

Well I finally replaced the R11S. Went for a fitting the other day and ordered a Ping G410 with a Fujikura Speeder TR 661. After going through many options this combo just flat out worked. Pick it up in a week or two!

That being said I have been mostly hitting my 3 wood off the tee and scoring my best rounds to date.....

Time to update my WITB.

No too many changes but here we go.

Biggest would be the addition of the T200's in a 4-5 ( I found my yardage gapping to be closer to what I wanted in a 5-6 T200) So yes I now have two 6 irons. As well all know the number on the bottom doesn't matter anyways. I wanted something in the 200-215 range that would launch higher, spin more and land softer. That I could not really get from my 710MB in the 4-5. This just makes life a bit easier on course.

I also went back to my older Nike hybrid. I just hit this so much better, there is a reason it was in my bag for so long.

Also switched out my putter with the two ball DFX- was not the putter I thought I would get along with but its by far the most confidence inspiring putter I have had. Not going anywhere unless I can find an original left handed two-ball to try out.
