Members Choice: Best golf polo of 2020

I bought 3 William Murray polos and 2 Greyson polos over the Memorial Day sales and thought I would give you guys a quick review and sizing assessment to try and give back since I get so much good info on these threads. For reference, I'm 5'9", 170-180, 39.5 inch chest, 32 inch waste. The shirts that fit me best are probably traditional FootJoy in small and Travis Mathew medium. If I'm managing my beer gut okay I have lots of Nike medium for super hot days, but some of those can get a bit tight in chest and mid section depending on my diet. I have some Peter Millar mediums that fit decent, just a bit looser in the waste than I like. Most every other traditional golf company polos I don't even try to buy anymore because I would need a Smedium.

William Murray: I was skeptical because the style is bolder than I normally go for but my wife talked me into them. I couldn't be happier with my purchase, they fit absolutely perfectly, maybe the best fit I have in any shirt now. Perfect thru the chest and a solid athletic cut to the waste, but not as extreme as Nike. The thing that really surprised me was the quality in the heat after sweating, they really hold up. I was on the course this weekend and we were in the high 90's and humid, so I was sweating a ton, but the shirt didn't droop or really show many signs of being wet. Super impressed with these shirts and will definitely buy more.Greyson: I'm also happy with this purchase. Love the material, soft and athletic but not too shiny like a Nike or Adidas, so you don't get that normal mismatched material issue when you wear them off the course with traditional pants/shorts. That is probably the best part of these shirts, they are definitely a shirt I can wear to the office or the course. Incredibly comfortable, and I love the styles. As for fit, I would say it's really close to a Peter Millar fit, maybe .5-1" more fabric than I love in the chest, and probably 2" more fabric than I would want in the waste. I looked on their site and would say their sizing chart is perfectly descriptive, my chest and waste measurements are on the low end of their medium category, so the fit is as advertised. I will probably buy more in the future, just not at $100/shirt. I'll watch sales and if something jumps out at me in the $50 range like these were I'd love to have a couple more.

William Murray shirts... great material, interesting prints, nice details (eg tartan on sleeve and collar)... way better fit & feel than any of my Adidas, Nike, FJ, Dunhill shirts.

What size did you go with on the William Murray and Greysons? I am interested in trying these out and we have a similar build, so curious what you went with. Also, how is their length? My work is casual so if I wear something other than a tee shirt, i like to have it untucked. Curious if the WM or greyson can handle that. Thanks!

I just got my first Johnnie-O stuff and really like their fit. I wouldnt have tried it but it was the most interesting stuff in the Old Mac pro shop and i needed that new tree logo! Seems to run a little big as a small fit me and in my now-slimmed-down state medium is what usually fits. I can wear it untucked or tucked and the material is great. Need to add a couple more and sell some stuff that doesnt fit anymore and think ill give WM and Greyson a shot as well. Summer bday about to pay off!

Thanks for this. I normally wear Peter Millarand wondered how the WM shirts were. I'm normally not a print guy as I'm 260 and not many shirts need that much print but I do like the look of several. Most prints are too over the top for me and several of the WM are just that. But some I also like. And I love the solid polo with tartan cuffed sleeve. May have to give them a try.

I went Medium in both brands. Sorry, that should've been more clear since it was the point of the post, lol.

As for untucked, I haven't considered that option, but I didn't notice anything abnormal about either (too long or short). I'll check that out this week and follow up though.

footjoy or nike. both last plenty of washes and maintains integrity of fabric. they are also the most comfortable.
