Mizuno Irons for 2020

I’m hearing rumors that Mizuno will discontinue the JPX 919… anyone hearing anything further?

Their recent cycle is to release the MP (classic styling) in odd years and JPX (modern) in even years. They usually get unveiled the week of the British Open.

The rumors are true, if you wait until September. That is typical release time for Mizuno. Debut at the British Open and then final product release around the 20th of September. Probably a JPX921 or maybe a resurgence of the EZ product line with better colours than the burnt orange? That'd be fun.

As stated above, new jpx in September and should see them at The open. Really looking forward to how they improve the 919 since its been a big hit here.

Are the HM Pros going to be early 21 then? Assuming they follow the 18 month time frame as they were released 5-6 months after the 919 range. Asking as I've been fit for and tested them extensively over the winter and I'm ordering them at the weekend...

I assume they will be at the same time as the rest. They were supposed to be released at the same time as the rest of the 919 line but were delayed for one reason or another

That's interesting. I remember there being quite a bit of discussion at the time around the release date but I don't recall any of the reviewers or reps saying it was meant to release along with the rest of the line. Might hold off just in case then...

They replaced the JPX900 from 2016, so the new JPX921 or whatever they may be called will be replacing the JPX919 of 2018. So noted of a line update versus it going away.

Well, the 919 is going away.. That is a fact. This is the year that would replace that with the next model. Don't confuse it to mean the JPX line is going away.

I sold my HMPs to buy the 919 forged. Called discount dans today and was informed that Mizuno is sold out of 919 forged and tour! WTF. They’re still listed for sale at most retailers, but as if this past weekend they are gone. ?

Yes, the 919s are sold out and discontinued now. You may be able to find inventory at a retailer, but cannot order direct from Mizuno. Never sell your gamers until you have new set in hand.

Again, they are listed for sale everywhere. I have backup irons, this golfwrx, but I feel like the rug was pulled out from under me.

They’re listed for sale at some retailers still because they have inventory left. Mizuno stopped producing the JPX919 heads so custom orders are done.

Correct you can find "stock" sets but custom orders are out.

The issue is how long you want to wait? We've heard from virtually every company and as of last week, almost every company will be waiting until the PGA Show to release anything. I just hope there's a PGA Show to go to in January.

I hope so, because that's not they were saying in May. I'm just ready for all this to be over. A lot of companies have been beaten up. Not just the OEMs, but local stores. It's sad to see so many people being hurt by this in a ton of ways.

That is correct, in May they were pushing out the next release. But, then there was a huge boom in sales. They are currently sold out of basically everything 919 and starting to sell out of the ST200 line of woods (5 woods currently gone for good). Due to that they have move the release back up to their regular release schedule.

which they would of released a standard CB in the MP line like the mp64, not too fond of titanium in my irons like the mp20 mmc. IMO, they need to drop the titanium in the MMC line and use tungsten technology as their "AP2" competitor. Titanium just doesn't match with the trademark feel of a mizuno iron and it has never been a popular iron.

I do need graphite shafts so in stock sets won’t work. I’m hoping Quigley is right that the 921s will be in Sept with spy pics this week. Gonna demo HMB in the meantime. Anyone think HMB feel and forgiveness is better than 919 forged?
