Phil's sunglasses

Recommended Posts

He is forward thinking and not sure, but at 50 he is probably in some sort of prescription. I swear I tried on the same brand, not style, as a lot are moving to screw hingeless designs. The pair I tried on were a similar hinge design, but I opted for something diff because the hinge would flex weird while extended out and I am kinda OCD. Would have driven me nuts. Cool though and it is where designers are going.

Me at 55, I dig what Phil is doing, except for the french cuff/pin roll of the formal pants. That was kinda too much... Glasses though are CAF...

Omg.....

I heard he once wore a black belt with brown shoes. Only option is to switch channels to Ru Paul’s drag race at that point.

Looks like they're silver Mykita Hampton frames with custom lenses.

Ditto this. I'm about to take my yearly eye exam and I'm seriously considering some dedicated golf only glasses. I only need distance glasses for driving, I don't need them for golf, but it does help sharpen up my visuals of the course and ball tracking. My driving glasses are green tint transitions, UV coating, and polarized. From what I've read, green tints aren't all that desirable on the course and there's two camps on polarized lenses. Some golfers like them, others don't.

I'm like most people, I take off my glasses when putting. But my cousin, who is a retired opthalmologist, says senior citizens like me shouldn't be taking off our glasses on the course because of UV damage and macular degeneration from repeated exposure to the sun. So I'm in the process of researching the combination of lens colors and coatings for prescription glasses that I can wear in every type of golf shot situation. And most importantly, I need to be able to read break.

I've had polarized and non, grey, brown, and rose tints, and haven’t noticed any impact +/- on my game. Right now I rotate between some Smith Directors with grey polarized lenses from their tactical department and some Rudy Projects with brown non polarized lenses with a mirror coating from Sports Optical in Denver. The Sports Optical lenses might be the best I’ve ever tried.

My recco is to just leave them on for the full round you round. You will get used to them

This HAS to be a part of a brand he has invested in or is launching...Phil doesn't do stuff like this just to do it. Not entirely related but I remember when he first switched to a SuperStroke grip and he blacked out the front logo with a Sharpie until he got one with the big Odyssey logo on it.

Point being, if he's doing something different then I bet he's finding a way to profit from it. That's not a slight, he's just smart. He knows what his image is worth and more power to him for it.

I contacted the distributor who claimed to have given the sunglasses to Phil when he was playing a tournament in Macau last year. They never thought he would wear them.

I wanted to sell them here in the states and asked about distribution. The sunglasses are supposedly custom made in China with a proprietary lens design that allows you to read greens better. They wanted to sell them retail $530 and is made by a company called Ü swing.

It's too rich in for my blood. You can buy them if you have WeChat and know how to communicate in chinese.

Why is everyone picking aviators as their guesses? Those are not aviators. To me, they seem closer to the ic! berlin Oli.

Update: a Mykita rep told me that in some pics Phil's wearing one of their styles, the Pierce (now discontinued), with mirrored lenses though.

But at this year's PGA that model and brand remain unknown.

I guess Phil is not endorsing whatever brand he is using.  We would have known by now if that was the case.
