Prizm Road vs. Golf/Dark Golf

Hello - was wondering if anyone uses the Prizm Road lens for golf? Looking to get my first pair of Oakleys and I play half the time in bright conditions and half the time in twilight/low light conditions. The description of the Road seems to suggest it is the most versatile of the Prizm lenses. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with using them for golf. I am debating between them and the Prizm Dark Golf. Thanks

I haven't tried the road but I have a pair of golf and had golf dark. I ended up getting rid of the dark and I wear the golf in low light and have gone to prism field(the baseball lens) for everything else and love it.

@gswanso2 I use the Prism Road for golf. I started a few years ago with the Prism Golf lenses, and those were fine but I felt like they gave little brightness protection. Bought the Prism Roads on a whim for driving and other sports primarily, and enjoyed them enough to try them for golf, and they were just what I was looking for. I wear them for everything from early morning bike rides to golf to runs at dusk. Pretty versatile with just enough dimming and not too dark. No experience with the golf dark lenses though.

I was just going to suggest the Prizm Fields as well. Those are my go to for both golf and softball.

My experience mirrors VNutz above - Prism Road is great for bright days Prism golf is fine for everything except the brightest normal days.

I own Prizm Road, Prizm Golf, Prizm Field. I have over 50 pairs of Oakleys(yes I am that sad).

My dad has Prizm Dark Golf and to me trying them, they are perfect on a Sunny day or a little cloud. Prizm Golf is not dark enough for sunny days, I only use them now when mostly cloudy/cloudy. Prizm field I tend to use them most of the time now in Texas.

I have never used Prizm Road for golf as they are not designed for those surroundings, I have them in lifestyle and for cycling but not golf.

When you put a golf specific lease on its amazing how the shades of green really pop, especially on grainy greens!

I currently use my Golf lenses in Flak 2.0s and I like them I am still on the lookout for a good deal on EV Radar with either Field or Dark Golf.

I didn't realize Field allowed in less light than Dark Golf. I presumed it was the opposite. I think I'm leaning towards the Field now as I have sensitive eyes and would prefer less light getting through.

 

Also, 50 pairs seems like a bit much

The light transmission percentages with Prizm are slightly different as they are engineered to allow certain light wavelengths through.

To me the darkest lens I own is Prizm Black Polarised and it is one of the lowest light transmission yet it performs much better than a regular black lens does in most lights.

I get migraines if I don't wear sunglasses with any bight light so that started me off on the Oakley bandwagon, I also own a lot of pairs of ski goggles and lenses too!

The darks were a lot darker than the regular golf but just didn't have the pop that the golfs do. The field allows in lees light which is good for me because my eyes hate light but still seem to enhance color more than the darks did. overall I like the field so much that I wear them as my regular sunglasses and for golf. I only wear the Golf lens if it is really overcast or I'm playing super early or at twilight.

I agree on the golf lens for early or twilight. I've taken to using them on all my morning bike rides in spring and fall and they're perfect for when the sunrise gets later and later.

The standard prizm for me does not protect my eyes enough on sunny days. Which prizm lens is best for golf on sunny days...Black ? or Dark Golf ? also.. Do we want POLARIZED for golf ? Thanks

Generally you don't want polarized. Sounds like you might want Field as well as they will allow less light than golf or dark golf.

Dark Prizm here. Love them. No complaints. Seldom, if ever are they not dark enough. Seldom, if ever have they been too dark.

I wear Prizm golf dark. Regular Golf lets in too much light for my tastes. Only complaint is on grey/cloudy days, it can be challenging tracking ball in air.

Have both and switch in the Golf dark when playing. Prefer the road in my truck. Road are a little too dark for golf in my opinion.

Golf Dark is the best lens for me. Wearing them with the Mercenary frame and really like them for golf.

I would add that there are definitely darker tints out there but the Golf Dark lenses are dark enough. Some may prefer something darker but, for most, darker isn’t necessary, it’s a preference. 93* yesterday in blazing sun. Zero issues. No squinting whatsoever, no fatigue.

I have the Flaxk 2.0 XL Golf Prizm. I agree on sunny days they aren't strong enough...

Can't find any replacement lenses without having to buy entirely new frames, which I don't really want to spend the money on right now.

Anyone know where to get Prizm Field replacement lenses?

Recommend the golf dark if you play in bright sun. Regular golf prizm lets in like ... I think 30% light?? It's not ideal for bright conditions.

I have Prizm Golf, Prizm Baseball (outfield) and Prizm Road to wear with contacts. The Baseball are my go to for golf and if they are too dark when playing I just take them off. The Road are the darkest of all 3 and I don't wear them much. The Golf lens has become my go to for Mountain Biking... since you're in and out of sunlight the brighter contrast of the Prism Golf lens helps when in the cover of the woods and still be able to see!

Finally found some Dark Golf replacement lenses.

Seems like these or Field are the preferred lenses for bright/sunny days?

Anyone have both and have a strong preference for either? I can't find the Field replacement lenses so leaning Dark Golf.

I have the Prizm Golf in my Flak Jacket 2.0s, and I want a new casual looking pair of sunglasses to replace the Raybans that I unbelievably misplaced. So Im planning on picking up the Holbrooks soon with the Dark Golf frames.

I just purchased a pair of prescription lenses with the prizm field. They are not nearly as pink as I was expecting. Wore them at dusk yesterday and they didn’t seem too dark. Wore them in the bright sun today and they were dark enough. Seems like a good fit early on for me. I live in Alabama and have sensitive eyes. The regular golf were way too bright for me. Never tried the golf dark after reading the comments about the field on here.

My RX shooting glasses are Prizm Field, very nice.

 

Just got my progressive lens Prizm Dark Golf, amazing color and contrast.  Oakley gets the progressive field widths on lenses correct for golf.
