Sleeves for the past 2 seasons. They have a cooling effect and I find them comfortable.

Yeah, I'm still slightly skeptical on the shawl. Ordered some Sparms sleeves to try out.

I was skeptical as well, but given that I despise sunscreen, I had to try them because standard sleeves are too tight on my upper arms. The shawl blew my socks off and is absolutely worth it. As a side benefit, the back part of the shawl actually covers a decent part of your neck, so you get added protection there.

Hopefully they don't pinch. I too hate that and it's why i hated the Nike sleeves.

that said, the FootJoy sleeves are the best I've ever used. Was supper skeptical as they are a one size fits all. And maybe they suck for others but for me they were perfect. No pinch and never budge. Way better material than Nike ones too. Hoping sparms are similar.

I am only 32 and don't have any skin issues, but I just got some of the Pearl Izumi sleeves for Father's Day, and I am both looking forward to them and dreading them at the same time. I actually found them pretty comfortable, but everyone is in shorts and short sleeves at my club. There isn't anyone in sleeves, or even pants in the summer time. So am expecting to take a lot of s$%# in my club game on Saturday morning.

I wonder why you don't see UV sleeves more on the Tour? They seem like they are pretty rare, and all of these guys make their living out in the sun all day, every day. Not to mention it would be an extra opportunity for some sponsorship dollars. What gives?

I have worn my Nike sleeves for a couple seasons now, but am really interested in the Footjoys. Their website only has black? What??????? Who wants a black set?

Any idea who has white ones in stock? Thanks

Yeah, after this thread popped up I decided I was going to buy another pair of FJ ones. They really are awesome. Started looking and only black? Ewww, no. Started looking around other places for leftovers and couldn't find white. So I bought the Sparms In white. Hope I like them. The FJ are awesome.

I’ve been wearing sleeves year round for about 5 years. I also wear a bucket hat with a very wide brim in the summer.

I have bought several brands. So far, I like sparms and Nike the best. Some of the cheap ones of amazon don’t last. The key is not to put them in the dryer.

In the summer, I primarily wear white sleeves but mix up colors in the winter. I like the extra warmth in the winter.

I predict that we will see many more players on pga tour wear sleeves in the coming years, which will only increase the popularity of them.

Are Sparms and Nike similar material? I hope not.

I didn't like the Nike. Too tight at the top.

Material is similar, but Sparms don’t pinch the arms. I had the same problem you do with Nike sleeves (they are too tight on the upper arms), but I have no issue with the Sparms shoulder wrap. The shoulder wrap is cut in such a way as to relieve any pinch points on the arms. I can’t attest to the Sparms sleeves, but I can highly recommend the shoulder wrap/shawl.

I purchased a pair of white Pearl Izumi's sun sleeves since I was a competitive cyclist in a previous life and used their black arm warmers in fall/winter and knew they would fit. I have found that sunscreen, while effective is pore clogging and doesn't allow me to adequately perspire and cool down. Today, I tried a set of white Pearl Izumi Sun Sleeves as the humidity and temp climbed. With full sun on me, I slipped on the pair and it was immediately noticed that my arms felt significantly cooler compared to the my uncovered neck and face. Whereas I normally start to feel overheated slathered in sunscreen when the temps are over 80 deg F and 65%, today, I felt comfortable and cool with the sleeves. The wicking performance of these was very noticeable.

They were so effective, I wore them home in my convertible with temps approaching 90 in 60+% humidity and felt great. I am sold.

I also feel sleeves helps with excess sweat that runs down the arm and gets my glove wet in extreme heat.

I too in a previous life was a competitive cyclist and also wore Pearl’s arm and knee/leg warmers. I got some Decente brand arm coolers about 10 years ago for cycling and started using them for golf, hiking, etc. Well, they eventually wore out and got the Pearl Izumi ones which are great. I always have them on when I’m outside for extended periods of time.

Update for you guys: I am officially a UV sleeve convert.

I played on July 4th in pants and UV sleeves in Central Alabama. High was 91 degrees. Got a couple of comments from my fellow members, as I was certainly the only person in pants and sleeves, but with the slight breeze and plenty of perspiration, the sleeves actually kept me cool. Not one time during my round did I notice or think about the fact that I was wearing pants and Pearl Izumi sleeves. I didn't even have to pull the tops of my sleeves up during the round. I forgot I was even wearing them.

I bought some SParms after posting in this thread about how the Nike ones aren't that comfortable in very hot/humid conditions. After one round with the SParms, I am VERY sold. That material is really, really nice. A couple splashes of water is also really helpful to cool down.

got my Sparms today. Seem cooler than the FJ but thinner. Guess that's good. Not as tight at the top as Nike which was mentioned. Haven't worn outside but seem real nice. Easier to put on then any other so far. Looking forward to trying them in the course.

Started wearing sleeves this year and put a light layer of sunscreen on before putting on the sleeves. Didn't purchase any of the major brand sleeve since I wanted to see how I would feel wearing them and think they are working out quite well. I ordered a 4 pack of a off-brand on Amazon in White so can replace them every 3 months and will decide if I want to purchase one of the major brand of stick with the off-brands.

Also pop my collar to protect the back of the neck.

Both! Use the sleeves and sunscreen on the face and neck. Thinking about adding one of those neck gaiters that you can get wet to keep cool. Here in Kansas it gets super hot and sunny. We are pretty close to the sun on some days!! :)

The past two summers I've been using the Aegend sleeves that I bought from Amazon and they work great. They are not too tight but they stay up better than some more expensive sleeves I tried first.. They are only $8.99 for a two pack and work great, but they develop holes after multiple washings. But for the price I don't care - I just reordered 2 more 2 packs.

When I walk into the sun, it's like listening to bacon sizzle in a frying pan. Years ago when I lived and played regularly in Japan and in other places in Asia where it's freakin hot and humid (Singapore/Malaysia/Hong Kong/Shenzhen etc.) is when I learned about the sleeves. I used to baste myself in Zn or Ti based lotion but since discovering the sleeves, I am so happy that I've been able to eliminate use of the lotion at least on my arms (still gotta do the face/legs). Once you build up a bit of a sweat and it seeps into the fabric and starts the evaporative cooling effect, you can really feel your arms cool down - even more so if a small breeze kicks in. Better yet, if you can wet them down before you go out you can stay cool right from the start. I've currently got about a half dozen brands in rotation and they are all pretty good at doing the job - even some of the cheapo Amazon brands. However, if I had to pick a favorite, it would be the Mission brand. The fit and feel of these have been my favorite since first day I purchased a set.

I am a sleeves convert.

I'm half sicilian, but am pale as all get out (redhead from my non-sicilian, northern euro descent).

I also use a full brim (now the Nike hat, which is awesome and I like the looks of it better than the Tilley's I used before.

I have been wearing the neck gaitor things from Patagonia to protect that lower neck/upper chest triangle area.

So, I just use sunscreen for legs (if wearing shorts), and face/neck and right hand.

I don't tan anyway, so I'm not worried about tan lines on my right hand

I have been wearing baseball caps a few times, but that's only because of my covid hair!!!
