2020 Ben Hogan Icon blades

It seems a little early in the life cycle to see these on the used rack at Golf Headquarters. But there they were. These are great looking irons. One of my complaints about the Ft Worth's was their thick top line. They got the look at address exactly right on these. I will own a set eventually.

Just looking at this picture I'd guess the COG is more heel-sided on the ICONS. The weight just doesn't extend out to the toe like it does on the 99 Apex. I could be wrong, maybe somebody like Maltby will do the measurement. Actually I hope I'm wrong because I have always loved the 99 Apex and would like to try an updated version.

The cog might be a bit towards the heel but not much. I'm having no issues transitioning from the '99 Apex blades to the Icon blades.

I got my Hogan’s today and they are sweet indeed! I got the combo set since job/kids cap my time at 9 holes/week and no practice. I had the older PTx and liked them a lot and the pros look even better. The Icons are absolutely magnificent to look at. Not sure when I’ll get a chance to game them but took some comparison pictures to my Mizuno MP20 HMB/MMC combo set Ive been gaming. Hogan’s are on the left of each picture and more compact.

Right now, I can’t imagine a better set for the price you can get these and I have zero buyers remorse!

Remorse? Golf is best pursued without remorse! Beautiful set,

I am in the same category as you. Thinking of combo or a full set of PTX Pro depending on the playabilty of the Icon. Look forward to your feedback. The PTX Pro look does blend very nicely with the Icon. Thanks for the photos for comparison. Really helpful.

Not recently, but back in May. It took 29 days to ship, like they said. I've always been a Mizuno fan but I can honestly say that these Icons are better than any Mizuno I've played. You'll love them.

For those with the combo set.....does the offset in the PTx Pro irons bug you any?

Also, are you guys gaming the KBS TourV shafts in them?

When I ran a shop we had a local rich guy who'd buy a new set once a month. He'd take them, tape up the 6 and 9 iron, hit balls at the range a few times, then bring them back to trade at 50% of what he paid. He did this for 30-40 sets and never actually played a round of golf with any of them. Just eccentric, and liked new clubs :) The one downside is we had a ton of used, players clubs with regular shafts :)

Yeah, that's about the timeline I'm expecting. There's no big rush, as there's nothing wrong with my current irons, but I'm really liking the idea that I can use one less club to cover the range between my driving iron and wedges, which will give me the ability to put in my 62 degree wedge all the time.

Here is a picture of the UiHi 4 iron, the PTx 7, and the 8 Icon. The PTx is just a slightly larger, thicker icon. I don’t notice an offset difference when playing them. The UiHi however does and I’m not a fan. The club itself is great but the offset not so much. My HMB 4 is much better in that regard despite being a bigger head overall.

Yes I’m playing the tour V. I had them in my old PTx and they seemed to fit me well. For reference I’ve been fitted multiple times and the mizuno shaft optimizer recommended the PX 6.0, ctaper light X, or DG120 as my top 3. I like the tour V well enough I don’t notice a difference on the course.

UiHi on the left, PTx in the middle, Icon on the right.

Interesting on the UiHi. I was thinking it would have minimal offset. Good to know. If I order a set, maybe I'd go full hybrid.

I get the demo clubs of the PTx and Icons tomorrow. Really intersted to see them in person and try them both out. Demos are coming in Tour V X.

Have yet to hit the Icon. I think the PTX Pro irons are sweet and could see myself going with a full set of them, though those Icons are lookers, I enjoy the feel of musclebacks and I can’t imagine the 8-PW being too difficult.

I didn’t even notice the PTX Pro offset, but I typically like offset in the .135-.160” range for a 5 iron. The long and mid irons look compact and the tech is hidden but when you hit them, they’ve got some pop and have a nice sound. The v-sole is thinner than others, also a plus.

I tested them in the Tour 90 stiff (102g) and the shafts performed well. I was worried they’d be whippy but they feel very much like the Tours, only lighter. I would most likely go with the 110g Tour-V stiff for a bit lower launch and a touch more distance, but the 102g version would definitely work.

Do they require you to buy a club at the 4 spot? I play a TM GAPR 4 that I am very happy with. I’d be fine buying a 5-PW combo and skip the 4.

Hi all... I got mine in the mail last week and reshafted them with modus 120x. I played the hogan 99 for a long time. This iron reminds me of the apex 99 but it has more of the look of the apex 50 with the back blade on blade design. One thing of note... I had some people try to tell me the hosel diameter is .370 and the kbs in the irons from the factory are parallel. The modus 120x was a nice tight fit. I play in phoenix. I have 4 rounds on them in temps over 100 degrees. I have had zero problems thus far. Really great iron for sure.
