Longest drive you have ever hit?

Osceola golf club, Pensacola.

Conditions were windy (20 mph wind).

First hole, blue tee placed at the tips. 450 yards to green.

Wind was off my right, but felt slightly downwind, however was more off my right than anything.

Playing the ball around 265 on average with driver, I expected around 275 at most with conditions.

I decided to fade the ball and hold the ball against the breeze and let the wind drift it left.

I felt contact, but barely. Almost like a bar of soap. My ball did exactly as intended and came to rest by the 100 yard marker. 348 yards, by some ridiculous miracle. I have no idea what exactly happened.

523 yards uphill and into the wind, and it spun backwards when it landed because it was my 3 wood. Unless this was trackman, these yardages are all suspect

  • 2 weeks later...

I have no idea what my longest ever was because I don't usually pay attention or remember but, my playing partner checked the cart GPS on this one last weekend mostly because it was near the green.

I just checked google earth and it has the same distance. That tree near the green is a good reference point.

Not amazing by any means but, more recent than anything else.

Charity scramble. Long drive hole was #8, a 390 yard par 4. Turns out we were group 8A. I was cold, had indulged in a few beers. I was young and stocky but flexible and at the time playing a slight draw. My group had 2 balls in the fairway so I went for it. I caught a pure draw stroke and it sailed down the right side fairway and was turning slightly back in. My ball was a few yards short of the Green Mound. I marked the card and we hit flops to the pin.

While putting I watched the group behind us ( 8B) roll a drive inches past mine. There were only 2 names on that Long Drive score sheet, and he won with 345 yards.

The longest drive for which I have evidence is 343 yards. I believe I also had one around 345-350, but it was many years ago and I just measured it with GPS at the time so the evidence is long since lost.

The funny thing about about the 343 drive is that I didn’t think it was anything special when I hit it, it was just a reasonably well struck drive. 270-280 is generally a great drive for me so I had no reason to expect more than that. The hole played slightly downhill and there was some mounding near where I thought my ball ended up, so I must have caught that the exact right angle to get a huge kick forward. It was one of those shots where you get up there and can’t believe where the ball is at. Like others here, I managed to screw mine up by missing my opportunity at birdie. ? (and before anyone asks about the picture below, I don’t pitch with a 2i, that’s just how I mark partial shots since I don’t want them interfering with my club averages ?).

Outside of those two shots I doubt I have many drives over 310, and basically all of those would be wind/slope/elevation aided

Royal Hawaiian golf course on Oahu #5--hit a perfect high draw that kicked and rolled all the way down the hill to the flat at the bottom. I had 90 left over the ravine and up to the green, which makes for a drive of about 350. Most of it was the hill and the great first bounce, but it was an awesome feeling!

I hit an Adams SC driver to 60 yards on a 422 yard straightaway par 4. Had lots of wind (20 mph or so) behind me. That driver hit big spinners and that particular shot just went forever. If I was into the wind, i would hit it 220 or 230. I hated that thing.

Probably 330 to 340 without help, but cant do it anymore. I won numerous long drives at scrambles and they would see this 5'8" 160lb dude go ambling up there. Was so funny. We played with my boss in Nashville a few years and I won long drive both years. Dude in our group was 6'3" and at least 230, muscular, and swung out of his shoes. He rarely hit it past me and my boss would gig the heck out of him.

All my long drives happened under the same condition.

There is a group in front of me who is just outside of my normal range. Furthermore, it is uphill, into the wind and cold. And I'm like "I've been slicing my drivers all day, there is no way I'll hit into them." Then, I flush the purest and straightest drive in my life.

Not sure, but it was downwind about 30mph rock hard fairway and it was before the invention of the GPS or rangefinder.

I hit a 2 iron 280 yards with a strong tailwind. Flat course was a hot dry summer day. That shocked me as I never got it past 250 with roll in the past I was usually 230-240 with 2iron at my best

I think it may have be the two piece ball. It was the days when I was transitioning from balatas

Never able to do it since. I retired the driving iron for hybrids

Driver. The best I have gotten is 320 yards on flat sea level. I average 270-280 yards My iron play is so generally better.
