I try... so far so good though!

My ho'ing this year has been crazy, mostly cuz I needed new stuff anyway.

First; I ended up getting a set of PXG 0311 Gen 1 irons for a great price during the winter. These irons haven't seen the outdoors, only indoor trackman a few times and I sold them lol.

Second; during the covid closure I ended up buying a brand new set of PXG 0311T Gen 2 according to my specs. While those were being built I ended up buying a set of new Mizuno MP 20 SEL's. Courses were still closed so I bought a Cobra F9 driver, brand new bushnell range finder, new Vessel golf bag, new FJ shoes, new Scotty Cameron Special Newport 2, new Mizuno T20 54* and 58* wedges.

Third; I played the MP 20's for a few rounds after courses opened up. my PXG's were still being built during this time. I sold the MP 20 SEL's when my PXG's arrived, loved the irons but the MP 20 SEL's were really only purchased so I can play golf while my PXG's were being built, the courses opened sooner than expected and I had no irons left!

Fourth; PXG 0311T's Gen 2's arrived. I played them for a bit but never really cared for them. Sold them

Fifth; Bought ANOTHER set of MP 20 SEL's because I shot some of my best scores with these irons

Sixth; Hit a buddy of mines TM P790 (version 1) and I absolutely loved them. I gave the MP 20 SEL's to my buddy, he loved them so much and he was out of work during covid so I thought he would appreciate that and I don't need the cash

Seventh; Bought a brand new set of TM P790's (2019 version) with my specs 3-PW and now this is where I am at, I still need to find a driver that I like but I am done with changing my stuff, the bag hasn't changed in a bit now, I think I finally got it figured out... lol

I read the forums 2-3 times a week because I like to know about new equipment and people's thoughts on it. But I have have opposite problem, I don't like to change my gear (or am afraid to).

Equipment is so expensive now that I don't want to buy something (even after demoing several times) to find out my old stuff was just as good. My index is 5.1 and I did buy a TS3 last spring but the rest of my bag is older.

I've said the same thing multiple times. Now I've stopped fooling myself. There's no way this works unless you become unplugged. The internet is poison for keeping the status quo.

I realize ho-ing for me is 60% towards hope of “buying a better game” & 40% trying something new even if I don’t think it will lower my scores. Right now I think my setup is optimized for my swing/game but I still check the Bay daily for stuff. Luckily 90% of what I buy is used & I focus on value purchases. But I can’t pass up good deals... just can’t!

I've had the same 3w and hybrid for a decade. Currently looking to replace both. My 3w works well on good swings but is pretty bad on thin shots relative to today's clubs. My current hybrid is money out of the rough but is so low spin/long that it leaves a pretty big gap from my 4 iron.

They had a great run but it's time to move on. I won't be selling them though just in case. Couldnt get much for them anyway.
