I've actually been without irons for a few weeks so dug the Wilson blades out of the garage, and of course I've been hitting the best iron shots I have in a very long time. The set is missing a few irons so I've even been taking distance off some shots, shaping shots, etc. Stuff I usually don't even have to try. I have a new set of 718 AP2s on the way, but might not even try them now. I've tried G15 and G25 in the past and couldn't stand them. The look at address just instantly kills me, I can't perceive how to even effectively use them, if that makes sense (probably doesn't). Just prior to the Wilsons I had gone back to Cleveland TA5s and also hated them. It's serendipity that had me try the complete opposite type of club with the Wilsons. Now I'm on the lookout for a modern equivalent of the Wilsons. Stupid game.

I'm a sweeper to the point after I hit a bucket sometimes the only evidence of me being there are my footprints. Its a curse as I so wanted to get the sexy divots and hear that cool sound. Alas I've given up and embrace my swing as it is. I played Mizuno forged CB's for a long time and eventually went back to my Ping roots. Now I play G400's and they work for me.

I just got a set of MP64s to try to bump off the MP15s I have been gaming for a season or two.

64s have a thinner sole and looks like a blunter leading edge, not sure about the bounce though. Gonna bag em this weekend.

MP33s are my practice set, also a great sole for sweeping. Hoping to get them back in the bag for rounds soon, looking for a good shaft for them now.

MP29s are another great sweeper set..

I've made two or three tries to play various Ping G-xx irons, and I couldn't get along with the soles. I'd just bruise the grass after the ball, and sometimes the feel of that would be interesting in a good way, on the short irons. But when it came to the mid irons those soles just didn't work for my sweep. I know that the trailing edges are raised and they should play narrower than they look, but I couldn't make it work. I'm glad they work for you, they are great irons.

There are soles which look wide at a glance, but definitely play narrow. A perfect example was the Callaway RAZR X iron. The benefit is that they can get the COG down low while keeping the sole nice and tight.https://www.callawaygolfpreowned.com/dw/image/v2/AADH_PRD/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-CGI-ItemMaster/default/v1593749932647/sits/irons-razr-x/irons-razr-x___3.png?sfrm=png&sw=500

Definitely me. Had the hardest time with hybrids for years because I could just never get my AOA quite right. It always ended up being a bit too shallow and with the gear effect I was always tugging them right (overdrawn for a lefty).

Play a 4 iron in current irons (JPX 919F) and in previous set (Callaway Apex CF16). I did just get fit for a Mizuno CLK 19º hybrid though. Described my hybrid woes to my fitter and we hit a few things with a bit more natural fade bias. That CLK head, combined with the Mitsubishi Tensei White 90TX shaft totally flipped my ball flight and got it to straighten out and fall even a little left (fade-side) of target. Very excited about it.

OP: Gaming JPX 919F. My miss tends to be to catch them a bit low and toward the toe and have seen really good performance with the JPX forged in retaining ball speed and not being overly punishing. Biggest thing I've found re: sweeping is not underestimating the importance of your club build and ensuring you don't overly droop the head around impact. Some of those GIs with a ton of weight out at the toe when paired with certain shafts could lead to weird turf interaction if you're sweeping.

I am a sweeper and did not like the i210s. Played them for a year and a half and they just didn’t work for me. Just switched to Wilson Staff Blade and it’s feels so much better going through the turf

I loved my sexy PING i20's, swing down, take nice divots, played pretty well, to a 12. Then a back injury. I bought a set of Cleveland HB Launchers, they feel like an iron and not a hybrid like the newer pumped up HB Turbos. I changed into a relaxed, smooth swinging sweeper. While I can no longer play every week, my game has improved down to 9, my lowest handicap ever.

jpx919 Tour. I took some of the bounce out (stronger lofts), and was concerned.

But after my first round, no issues at all. Best clubs i have owned.

I have a sweeper style of delivery and I think the 785's are great. Where I find the sole works best is on very wet fairways, having played this club in rainy conditions. Partial swings and chips have been noticeably better, no chunking , at least from my experience.

@Roejye - For the most part, NO. I play to 4-5 was a 2 and a sweeper/scraper.
Read my post above. Narrow soles, low bounce and sharper leading edge are best when sweeping the ball as we scrape the turf. Wide soles and more bounce are to keep diggers from creating holes that see China.
On the other hand, if a digger uses a narrow sole and low bounce iron, he's going to see china and rattle his teeth. A sweeper using a wide sole and lot of bounce and missed hits a shot, it's like skull from the blunt leading edge.

@Snowman9000 - A sweeper and picker are more similar than different. With me, turf conditions determine which is used. Depends on club but sweep the ball, a nice scrap results after, pick the ball, nothing much results.
Both styles approach the ball with shallow AoA but degrees vary as does scrap. Sweeper tends to impart less spin on the ball than picker, course that depends on the persons mechanics. With either, though, a miss strike translates to leading edge thin skull moving the ball forward; how far is a variable; as opposed to a gaping hole and flipped over loaf of turf and 5-10'.

I'm a sweeper, and am currently playing Z785's. Had good luck with JPX919 Tours, but struggled with the JPX919 Forged 4 & 5 irons that I had at the top of the set.

I would pick the T100 over P760 by a "thin" margin.

Having played many full forged MBs lately, both sets feel great, but I really like that sole on the T100 for my strike pattern. I'm quite pleased with each set.
