Need some help from some of you experts!

I have been playing Tour BX all season (2020 version)..love the ball

I was given a sleeve of TP5 Pix and decided to try them my last 2 rounds. I have NO concrete number data just course observations.

I feel like the TP 5 is a hair longer off driver (probably within margin of error for my swing)

BUT I really feel as if the the TP 5 goes almost a club longer on iron and full wedge shots. It has only been 36 holes but i started to be convinced more today.

Is this possible? And what characteristics of the TP5 vs Tour BX would explain it?

How's the greenside spin of both? I'm going to assume the TP5 spins less giving you a little more distance.

great question ha and didn’t really think about it..I don’t really play a lot of spin on pitch or chip shots so I would say I don’t notice a difference there

I'd agree, you're probably generating less spin with the TP5 on your irons shots. Something to look at is if there is a trajectory difference and how the TP5 reacts landing when you hit the green... is it releasing more or spinning back..i.e. distance from the pitch mark.

I would say i dont notice any difference in roll out or spin back...if you put a gun to my head i would say TP5 has a higher trajectory on full wedge shots...but other than that i would say to my eye the ball flights are similar

I can't think of any reason you'd be seeing any significantly different iron distances off of these two balls, based on looking at the tests. The TP5 spins a little bit more and goes a little higher off of irons, but not a lot. In the testing, the biggest difference I can find is that the Tour B RX is a little bit longer off the tee at higher swing speeds.

The only other thing I can think of is that your particular swing benefits from a ball that spins a bit more in terms of staying in the air longer, but I don't have any science to base that on; it's just a shooting-from-the-hip guess. But even if that's true, the spin rates off irons don't seem to be different enough to account for a full club difference.

So, in your shoes, I'd maybe reserve judgement for now until I had a bigger sample size, and even try to get out to the course by myself so I could hit the two balls side by side with the same club from the same place under the same turf and temperature and wind conditions and see what's going on. A club of difference is a BIG deal, and if you can really get that, it would be worth it.

so, if that is the case would it be logical to say I’m better suited to play the B-Stone Tour B XS? And the. BXS vs TP5 would be a better excercise for me? Or am I way off

I don't know any way to answer that. The two balls are pretty similar, like most premium balls are, and I don't think you could go wrong with either one of them. If you want a little bit more spin and little higher trajectory off irons (and I emphasize "little"!) then the TP5 would be the choice. If you want a little bit more distance off the tee, the the B XS would be that. But these are VERY small differences in the testing data, and if you continue to get bigger distances when you play, then that would be your answer.
