Recommend a high COG blade/players CB iron ....

Looking for recommendations for a high COG players CB or blade. Small head shape a must. I’m a high spin, high launch , high single digit HC.

First of all, if you want to get better I’d focus on getting your dynamic loft under control. Until then, look at Miura Baby Blades, TM P730, Hogan Icons, etc.

Thank you. Been playing FG 17s from years ago with success. Recently purchased a set of the new Staff blades with s300 and hit moon balls with them. Way higher trajectory than I see with the 17s . The Staffs will most likely get put on the chopping block. Just trying to see where I should be looking for a smaller head design with a possible high COG. Thanks for your reply. I like the looks of Miura but they are salty ??, 730s as well.

If you are high spin, why are you looking for high CG? That will only raise spin more.

They could work to lower launch but unlikely to lower spin by a huge amount, if at all. Assuming he got his numbers off a launch monitor... He'd be better off trying a lower spinning ball first if possible and really taking a look at his swing to try and alter the dynamics. We don't know what irons he's in now either, kind of tough too make good recommendations.

My bad, I thought a high COG would aid in lower flight. Guess I got it backwards beings most GI,SGI have a low COG to help aid in getting the ball in the air. .

Normally in my FG 17s, but played my last 4 rounds with new Staff blades with s300, used to a Px 5.5 guy in anything I played . Get a better ball flight with a RXS 330, or a Top Flight Distance ball. Pro V1 does nothing for me.

You had it right. A higher COG WILL launch the ball lower, but it may add additional spin, negating some of what you're after. Low COG launches the ball higher, and sometimes with less spin. These are generalities, but a players' iron has a higher and more forward COG for shot shaping. But even in players' irons the COG is progressive from long to short irons (lower to higher).

Look at the Cobra King MB. Probably your smallest option other than Miura BB or Ping Blueprints. I500 will look huge compared to any of the 3 I mentioned.

Agree, look at different shafts to lower flight. What ball do you use?

Guy runs the shop where I ordered them mentioned sending them back to Wilson and changing shafts. Wish I’d went ahead with the Px but at times didn’t want to pay the up charge, that was a mistake!! I like the 330 RXS, Top Flight Distance ball that serves me very well for whatever odd reasons, and Chrome Soft. Get lots of laughs till they see how a Top Flight performs for me, and yes, I can get it to check. Love me some lead tape!!!!

Yes and no. I’ve played s300 long before and switched to Px on a whim and loved the results. Possible with the bore thru hosel causing a higher flight than I’m use to seeing.

Possibly. I’ve used them in the past in TM MBs and Nike VR TW blades with great success. Switched to Px on a whim and saw a more flatter trajectory. I’m second guessing myself or should I give the s300 more time? I can feel the 300 thru the ball better but for some reason just seems to be a much higher flight than I’m use to seeing. I’ll take both sets out one day and go head to head.

Did you lose distance? I'm hitting my Wilson's within 5 yards of my G410's I played last year. It makes no sense but I'm not complaining.

Negative on the distance loss. Appears I’ve picked up probably a half a club, this probably being the lofts on the new Staffs are 2 degrees stronger, Staff Pw is 48* beings I had them bent 2* weak. My FG 17 PW is 50.

You need to move the COG up, so I would start high on the back of the club and then adjust towards the heel or toe if toy see any left or right bias.

Gotcha, thanks. I started lathering on the lead tape yesterday. I’ll get to the course and see how they fly now.
