2020 Bridgestone Tour BXS vs 2019 TaylorMade TP5

For those who have played both, what are your thoughts? Especially on feel on and around the greens and iron spin/distance.

they are very very similar in most respects, they both have tons of spin with short irons/wedges and half shots. Both are pretty much same distance with driver (if any, BXS might be a few yards longer). Both are soft, BXS just feels a tad softer when putting.

Played Tour BX and TP5X the past few months

Honestly...I would be very happy with either.

I'd probably give the slight edge to TP5X though, seemed to have an occasional longer drive with it. Both spun close enough for me on approaches and both felt great off the putter. TP5x maybe a bit firmer.

In the end FWIW, Snell MTB-x would be my choice. A bit spinnier on approaches, a bit better feeling off the putter, every bit as long as the others.

I would say similar performance. B XS is a touch longer off the driver and irons for me. (3-5 yds). But I do find the B XS def spins more on short shots and has a softer feel off all clubs.

If you liked RZN Plats then you'll be a fan of the BXS. Only real difference I'd say between the two is that the BXS is definitely faster and longer and a touch softer. The sound is most definitely a huge difference too. Those Nikes RZN balls had a really different sound which I haven't felt / heard in another ball. BXS is a solid play though.

Well it sounds like I’ll love them then because the RZN Platinum was really long off the driver (and the longest ball I’ve played with the irons) so faster and a touch softer sounds like a winner.

Tour B Xs is softer feeling all around to me. The TP5 doesn't spin as hard off wedges or around the green.

I haven't played either in really windy conditions yet so i can't speak on that.

It is funny, I am not a great golfer (17 index) but I switched from Pro V1x to TP5x a few years ago. Last year I was given a case of Tour B XS and loved them. Off the tee and long irons are where I noticed the difference. To me though, I find the TP5x and V1x softer and the BXS crisp on short irons. I would compare the TP5x/V1x to hitting a tennis ball and BXS to hitting a ping pong ball (not the weight but feel). I have a high swing speed, and carry a drive 240-260 yds. My problem area (since kids) is 75-30 yards so that is why I pay attention to my short game. All are fantastic balls, I think the benefits of the long game will keep me with Bridgestone

Bingo. And lower launching in my experience

I've played both side by side and Tour B XS was my preference. A little longer than TP5 and a touch softer.
