Sweepers - What irons are you currently using

I'm a sweeper mostly and I've been thinking about the 620 CB. I'm starting to look at the VCOG in irons and this one looks pretty good. I'm a lower ball and lower spin type with my irons. Anybody have any thoughts on how easy the 620 CB launch?

FWIW, I had a set of 716 CB's a few years ago, and they were great for me. I wore the 7 iron out practicing with it, or I might still be using them.

LOL. Good question actually.

In my experience, having done both, I'd say the sweeper.

The digger, or at least the digger I was, generally delofts the club more than any additional spin (from hitting more sharply down on the ball) can make up in any adding height.

Sweeper here and was a long time Ping i & G series player. Moved to PXG 0211 and they have been awesome for my game.

Had my 1st round with 718 AP2s today and they worked pretty well for my picker swing. Look a little chunky vs the old Wilson Staff Tour blades I've been using, but the feel was a pleasant surprise.

Just got the T100S, and after 2 rounds I like them less and less.....should have stuck with my P750's

What don't you like? I would assume the P750 would be much more demanding.

Always come back to ping I series. I210’s with awt shafts currently. Some success with P790’s but the pings just perform for me. Play to a 2, ball flight is normally right to left for the most part. Do wish the Pings were a bit more durable, however.

Tons of great thoughts here folks, thanks for all the conversation. 785's are on my short-list. And I've got a love-hate relationship with Ping's i series. I've had i200's and 210's over the past couple years and played some of my best golf with them, but my miss, particularly with the shorter irons was fat. Still thinking of iBlades or even Blueprints. My Miuras have been great, but that funny PW shape they and other Japanese wedges have still throws my eye a little.

Not to throw the thread direction, but are all of you relatively neutral with the driver too? I know I'm working on getting more upward AoA, but always hover around 0*.

I didn’t really notice it at all until I set down the 9 and PW, but it’s nothing major. Took me a few swings to get used to but now it’s not a problem at all, especially with how well I’m hitting them lol.

718 AP2's here. I'm actually eyeing a set of 718CB's as well.

I've personally had much better turf interaction and accuracy with the CB's however AP2's gave me a little more distance; all else being equal.

T100 irons. Perfect, minimal turf interaction. I've never hit any irons better, period.

For me these would NOT suit a sweeper, they are easy to hit, forgiving and long though

I’m plus 4.5 with the driver. Play a counter balance tensei orange in a ping 410 lst head. Don’t carry a 3 wood, waste of time for me.

My iron game took a step forward when I started aiming at the front of the ball. Really improved the quality of my strike and increased my AOA by a percent or 2. Still no divots with the 5/6 iron though!

I was a big time sweeper, but have brought my attack angle down to -2.8 to -3.0 in the last 2 months w/ my teaching pro. I was fit into PXG 0311T's as a sweeper for their forgiveness compared to other narrow sole width clubs, still hitting them well now as less of a sweeper.

If the ball is properly struck causing spin neither is higher. My trajectory is mostly low-mid but high when needed. I am mostly a sweeper/picker 2-8i, but tend to dig using 9i-LW.

Honma TW737Vn currently, long time Mizuno player. Really enjoy the feel and response of these irons.
