Ping Anser F WRX - Can the head be tidied up??

Hiya, I’ve been looking for an Anser F with the WRX head (to go alongside my Nickel Scottsdale) and seem to have found one.

The head looks a little beat up and I’m not sure if the face can be cleaned/buffed without damaging the face (see the pics) - there looks to be a bit of wear on the bottom line and a few nicks in the top of the face...will buffing the head/face ruin it?

What do you think this is worth in current state?? Do you think £100 is an accurate price?

I could be wrong but I think the head is manganese bronze, it’s somewhat hazardous to work with. Wear gloves and a mask if you are going to sand or file it down.

I think you're thinking of Beryllium Copper, which is definitely hazardous to work with. Manganese bronze shouldn't be more hazardous than anything else. Not a bad idea to wear gloves and a mask (and eye protection) sanding or filing anything, or doing just about anything these days.

As a Ping collector myself, I'd value it at around £75. The large ding right on the top edge is a worry as it may be visible from address. It could be worked on but would need expertise or spending money on a refurb. The head of the F is also supposed to be matt black, which seems to be quite faded here. The brass face (and Ti pixels) should buff up fine though. Superb model, but this one looks a bit tired.

I’d pass those nicks will be hard to fix. Or leave it but I don’t think it is worth the price.

Ping will refurbish if you want to spend the money. I called about one I was thinking about buying. I think it was around $60-$80 us but can't remember.
