It's weird that dick's and golf town had buy one get one for the srixons.. does anyone know if they are clearing stock for a new 2020 ball?

I don’t see the higher ball flight. What I see is just the opposite. I’m a very high spin high ball hitter and the reason I have switched from ZStar to the current generation QStar Tour is that they spin less off of the driver and long- mid irons. I’m seeing about a half club more distance with irons and still get tremendous spin inside of a hundred. It seems to be really really good in the wind also.

I really wanted to love the XV. I bought a sleeve and played great. I impulsively bought 4 dozen with the June BOGO. I played 9 holes tonight.

 

It was probably the best my short game/putting has been in a year. I chipped up to an easy 1 putt 4 times. I hit a sand shot to 3 feet on another hole. But the ball was MUCH shorter than my Bridgestone RX/RXS's. I had full shots I felt I hit on the screws that were landing 10-20 yards short (hence a lot of chipping).

I'm playing 18 tomorrow. Will rotate between Bridgestone and Srixon every 3 holes.

Gotta be a spin issue, right?

My very rudimentary understanding of it is that at certain swing speeds and launch angles, you will want more or less spin than x, and that that is what picking the right ball can do for you.

I can't imagine you'd see any real difference with the driver. They should land within a few yards of each other. It would be nearly impossible to see a difference variation on the course.

Off irons on the other hand, the RXS and RX can easily be a full club longer.

Hopefully I'll get a better feel on today's round....it was definitely more variation than I've seen when I've tested other balls before. But it happened consistent. There were 3 absolutely flushed irons shots I was way short on. And 3 drives that I felt like I hammered that ended up significantly shorter than I would normally be. It's my home course that I've played a zillion times, so normally have a great feel for yardages.

 

The ballflight seemed identical...it just didn't seem like I was getting the normal carry.

 

I'm going to alternate between Srixon and Bridgestone every 3 holes.

Never tried the 2019 series. But the 2017 a and xv I've played almost exclusively since they came out. The z just flat out performs for me. Alot of spin 60yds and in. And a nice penetrating ball flight. Only scuffs on trees and paths. Lasts me multiple rounds sometimes.

I never hear anybody talk about the Z Star in Kelly Green. It's a sort of faint translucent green that I believe is the same colour as the Masters green. I love this ball and I was getting them super cheap at GolfTown, but I don't think they make them any more. I was paying $14 for a 6 pack last year. I also stocked up on regular white Z Stars during the last sale.
