DeChambeau Up 25 Lbs

Holy Moses

He has the benefit of being young and having the ability to go "all out" right now, and he's making big bank doing it. Maybe he's trying to win as much as possible and earn as much as possible now, rather than worry about a long career. Heck, any one of us could be hit by a bus tomorrow. Just a thought.

Very true, but why are many assuming as fact that because a tour player "swings hard" that it will cause injury? Aren't there plenty of examples of all types of tour players getting injured? I suspect most of the tour pros swing close to max potential, it simply looks like they are geared down due to their talent and skill level. Every time an athlete does something outside the box, the default response is "you can't do that because this will happen." Gary Player was ridiculed for starting all of this. Outside of golf they said the same thing about basketball before weight training became standard practice..."you are gonna ruin your jump shot", " you are going to lose your flexibility", etc.

Same stuff over and over again.

“Will he get injured” “Will his swing hold up”

These are Red Herrings. They are just questions used to virtue signal and mislead from the actual facts.

The fact is there are too many factors that affect ones physics heath and “swinging as hard as you can” is only one of them.

The assumption these questions make is that Bryson wants to have a long career. Don’t forget most professional athletes retire in their mid thirties. Golf is an anomaly. He may not want a long career but instead a fruitful one that allows him 50 years of retirement instead.

So, in the end i believe the “physical health” argument is the final bastion remaining for the trolls and haters. Just speak the truth. you don’t like him. it’s fine; you’re allowed. Just don’t virtue signal that you actually care. It’s a worn out position.

Also, sorry mister Ross.

For the record, I'm not a troll or hater. I'm just saying that swinging out of your shoes when your that big and strong is not conducive to a long career. If he wants to swing like that until his body breaks down, more power to him.

Virtue signaling?

It’s “virtue signaling” to question if a guy swinging out of his shoes swing will hold up, from a reliability, consistency, and injury standpoint, during the season, against actual top fields and pressure, and in major competition?

Virtue signaling?

Virtue signaling??!!

”Final bastion of trolls and haters”? This sounds like a Lord of the Rings plot line ; )

What you mean, “final bastion”? Has Bryson already won a bunch of majors that I missed that we can anoint him the heir apparent to Tiger Woods?

Virtue signaling....

Bryson was injured when he started working with Greg Roskoph and he credits Greg with 'saving his career' and he is now able to swing all out with no apparent ill effect. I am guessing that he will be able to swing pain free for a long period of time. Of course Father Time is undefeated and will win in the end.

As a person who has had MAT treatment and is doing some exercises that I learned during my sessions I believe that the MAT system works and it may well keep Bryson's back relatively healthy for as long as he wants to play golf.

True story. I had a coworker in NM that nearly died from bubonic plague. He was splitting wood and stacking it on his woodpile on a Saturday. Was running infinite fever by Monday morning and admitted to the hospital. I think he was in a coma for several weeks. Lucky to live. Folks tend to think of it as a Middle Ages thing, but there are several cases each year in the desert southwest. While our current situation is nothing to sneeze at (couldn't help myself), there are things far, far worse in this world.

Exactly. The list is quite long of professional golfers who have had some sort of golf-related injury during their career. It comes with the territory in all professional sports, and the likely hood that he will have an injury for any number of reasons sets up a cupcake of a "told you so" down the road for all of the "golf experts" and DeChambeau haters.

This is the place DeChambeau has arrived:

While I think this is a low class move by Brooks, and really shows how insecure and petulant he is, this could be GREAT for golf. If the Tour is smart, it will pair these two together the next time they are both in a tournament together. That would be must-watch TV. Hell, throw Pat Perez in as the third and have him mic’d up and giving us odds on when the first punch gets thrown.

There aren't as many events in the long drive circuit don't think and they store up the energy for a few big ones like a 100m sprinter in athletics. To use the athletics analogy, DeChambeau playing 20-25 PGA Tour events and majors is like running the 1500m or 5000m events, 72 holes where you play 260 to 280 shots, even if some are chips and putts, Pro-Ams, practice, travel etc.

Brooks and Bryson are friends and he's busting his balls because anytime someone gets stronger people immediately accuse them of PED's. It's literally a joke between them.

When you criticize Bryson for not winning with his new swing and body and then he wins the next week, you have to go the PED route https://golfweek.usatoday.com/2020/07/12/lynch-brooks-koepka-jab-stirs-welcome-peds-debate/

I totally understand the PED line of thinking. I used to be in bodybuilding, and I know how hard it is to gain muscle, let alone 40 lbs of muscle in such a short amount of time. One of the question that arises for me, is to put on that kind of size, you generally need to be doing heavy compound exercises, like deadlifts, squats, bench press, etc. Bryson says he doesn’t do any of those power moves, and only trains with isolation exercises on machines. I’m wondering how you put on that kind of size doing hip abduction, body rotation, etc. I’m not accusing him of anything, everyone’s body is different. Some people can gain mass much easier than others. But it seems odd that he’s bulked up that much so quickly with isolation exercises and protein shakes. Just my .02
