Blades or Cavity

So I have a set of Srixon Pro-100 4-PW Project X 6.0 and Titleist 716 Ap2 5-PW Dynamic Gold AMT S300. I can hit them both very well (blades of course needs a little more work and focus), just wanted to know what your guys’s thoughts were on these two irons. The AP2 is super easy too hit but I don’t like the feel of the club and the heaviness of it. The Pro-100 is harder to hit but the feel is phenomenal and is but on the light side (i like my irons a little light).

I like the feel of a good round, the 716 ap2 give you that at the end of the day.

Why don't you get something that feels like a blade but is more forgiving like the forged Srixon Z 765? It has a MPF of 473 which is lots better than the blade at 300 something. GI clubs start at 550. Speaking of that the Maltby forged MMB-17 that have a MPF of 701. They look like blades.

"Shirtsleeve" swing technique:

1. Setup: Elbows bent forearms pressed together against shaft slightly forward of center with "Hogan" "active/flexed" leg tension left foot turned out slightly and the right leg slightly farther to the right - weight mostly on balls of feet butt of left hands sits on the top of the grip with very light grip.

2. Swing - W/o disturbing weight distribution of legs and feet lower hands while doing a forward press "swing trigger" then the left upper arm takes over on the backswing, it needs to go out in front of the body then back in front of the chest as the hands trace down initially then up to over the right shoulder "Torres". The goal is to not disturb the pressure of the feet during the initial takeaway.

 

Notes:

1. Only swing thought after swing trigger - extend left arm at shirt sleeve when reaching left hand over right shoulder "Shirtsleeve technique".

2. The upper left arm move "Shirtsleeve technique" can be practiced independently without a club, sitting down for instance

3. The correct feet tension can be felt by doing very short hops on the balls of the feet then holding the same feeling of pressure on the front of the feet and then taking three practice swings with the grip very loose in order to not disturb the same pressure on the feet and on the 3rd swing actively do the "Shirtsleeve" move. From there the swing should be done within a matter of seconds to not lose the feel of the legs resisting, this way this is not a learned technique as much as it is a setup technique.

The Maltby Playability Factor that has a method of classifying clubs based on how forgiving they are. I found about it on this forum. Here is a link. BTW, the Maltby TE forced CB look really sweet and play like a GI 700 out of 900 compared to 300 something for a blade. They don't have a lot of offset either. Definitely reshaft the Honma, but don’t pull apart your Pro 100’s to do it. Like you said the Srixon’s feel great as is. I’d put Modus 120 or $-taper in the TW’s and work those into the mix. Play the AP2’s in the Winter, TW’s in the Spring, Pro 100 in the Summer-Fall.

It’s all relative, isn’t it? Check Golfworks for new prices, I think Modus is kinda mid-price point. There are certainly cheaper options, like DG AMT for example. You could always just build one club first, to make sure it’s a combo that fits you.
