It sounds like Poults will be a witness and be asked Exactly what he saw, why he intervened, and I imagine he will be pressed, under oath, if he was really sleeping throughout this entire, seemingly, raucous episode, which required the crew to intervene and the police to be waiting at the gate. That’s quite a bit to sleep through.

I did and I don't disagree but the point I'm making is the quotes are open to interpretation in terms of witnessing criminal behaviour not just the unruly obnoxious stuff which isn't necessarily criminal.

I gotten caught up in this as I know someone personally (not mega famous but small(ish) national profile) who has genuinely had their life ruined by an allegation. I have no insight on Thorbjorn's guilt or innocence he might be guilty but I am passionate to a fault about the unqualified presumption of innocence not just in a legal sense. The person I know was innocent still has people thinking he is capable of dark things, it's ruined a decent man.

Most people manage to be on their best behavior on a plane and typically stick to the water closets for urination. It's not that difficult.

Sounds like maybe you are too close to this one. People get suspensions all of the time in the work place. It can be a day, weeks, or months. Ultimately they may lose their job if their employer views the employee as a liability. The fact that he was arrested upon exiting the plane indicates there was at least a "there there" situation:"The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a 29-year-old man was arrested at Heathrow on Monday on suspicion of sexual assault, being drunk onboard an aircraft and failing to comply with the orders of cabin crew."

That's more than just one accusation. More than one witness. There are potential criminal felonies and a possible pending civil suit. The suspension is appropriate.

I never drink on a plane and don't really drink. There is something with altitude or pressure that can cause drunks to go crazy on planes. It is the last place you want to start acting like a fool and with planes people usually get belligerent.

One or two whiskies will make my scare of flying more manageable, I can sometimes even enjoy a flight. But I have never felt the need to do anything stupid. Most often, I fall asleep. But I guess the young Scandinavian allowed himself a litte more generous ration of the good stuff.

Not saying this guy did, but I think some people take pills to relax and then drink on top and that makes them crazy. Well, more crazy than they were initially.,

Then again, some guys gets in brawl mode when gettin pissed(I react differently). Young Olesen is still old enough though, being scandinavian, to know his normal behaviour in the situation of intoxication, so unless the company of IJP wasnt too encouraging(generally, being around british people will NOT make me drink less and I strongly supect that IJP is no exemption) the pills version seem more probable.

Sorry you don't act that way with just booze. I'd wager a fair amount that he washed down some ambien or something similar for the long flight. Happens quite a bit with people that do really bizarre behavior like he was doing.

Reading this just reminded me of the couple two rows in front of my wife and I as we went on honeymoon. 12 hour flight to Mauritius. Half way through it was sort of a lights out scenario and most people were trying to sleep or watch one of terrible films. This couple in front were making the most of the free drinks on board. What happened to cause the initial argument, I don’t know but my wife and I first came aware of it when the chap asked his partner “did you just ******* punch me?” He then went on one of the most foul mouthed, expletive laden whispering rants I have ever heard. Honestly some of the things that he said, I wouldn’t even dream of thinking never mind saying out loud. Eventually they got louder and louder and started pushing and shoving one another in the seats until the cabin crew intervened and separated them.

 

The discussions between the two continued until the Captain came and in no uncertain terms fired a rocket up the guys backside which calmed the situation down. We last saw, or thought we last saw, the couple at the baggage reclaim. He, to be fair was sporting what was going to be a lovely black eye. After getting to our hotel about 45-60 minutes away from the airport we were sat waiting to get our room and what not. This couple arrive at the same hotel. Thankfully, the never once acknowledged us. The next day we were sat in the poolside bar and they appear again. His black eye by now had properly come out. It was a proper shiner. Joining them at their table was a lady from the hotel. Turned out that she was the onsite wedding co-orindator. They had been flying out for their wedding on the beach at the hotel. Whether the co-ordinator or their family members who seemed to arrive a couple of days in ever got to ask how he came about his black eye I do not know but some two years on, I am pretty sure that their lawyers will be the only ones happy that they ever thought it made sense to get married.

So the European Tour lifted his suspension until the outcome of his case is determined December 2021. The Tour might be very lucky that COVID happened and there wasn't much golf to be play because if hes found not guilty I would assume he would turn around and sue the TOUR for lost wages. Looks like this ones gonna take a while.

Being found not guilty is a legal issue. It actually has no bearing on the tour’s right to suspend a player. Lots of players have served suspensions without being found guilty of crimes.

Ya, I think provided that they demonstrated a set of internal standards that were fairly commonly accepted practice, documented, and applied to all players without bias, they wouldn’t be liable if the legal outcome is not guilty.

Exactly, and I believe that VJs side contended that, while there were an established set of guidelines, they were applied to him in a biased manner and not applied the same way to other players.
