2019 Titleist T300 irons

Recommended Posts

What is the yardage gap between your 53 set wedge and the 56 Vokey?

This will be a key thing I am focused on when I get my T300’s (order placed this week). Do I take something out of the long end of the bag (i.e. 4 iron) to better cover scoring/wedges, or do what you did and stop at a 56 or 57 degree wedge. I purposely ordered 4 thru 53 set wedge just so I have the opportunity to test both ends (I’ve always struggled with my 52 vokey and it is almost solely a full swing club for me)

These players distance irons go so darn far (in my testing thus far) that I honestly am not sure I need a 4 iron AND a hybrid/utility iron.

FWIW I currently game a set. Surprisingly compact looks for the thicc head and shape. Super pleasing to the eye at address, I love the softer curves of it vs. my super hard edged hard lined Miura irons. Feel is decent, but the stock shaft is crap. Definitely don't get AMT red.

I agree. With the t300 4 iron being 1 degree stronger than the 718 AP1s, I dont think I need my 818h2. This allows me to go back to a 3 and 5 wood or swap the 5 wood for a 58 wedge. We shall see. I previously used a 60 degree wedge and that club was just very inconsistent for me

Not many comments on Geezer stix around here...

Three rounds on familiar tracks with two range sessions in on T300 4 thru 53 (9 irons) AMT Red . Came from G410s (AWT 2.0).

Not much change in distance or trajectory. They are close with a slight edge to the T300. My g410 7 iron is a geezer’ish 145-155 and not much difference with T300 150 - 160. 5 yards here or there is not much. G410 felt/sounded pretty much the same with each club thru the bag.

The T300 is definitely two sets of clubs in the bag. 4 thru 7 are A bit hollow sounding (almost off-putting at first) but good feeling with plenty of information letting me know whether or not I have struck it well. The 8 thru 53* is what may keep them in the bag. Solid, pure feeling irons that make me want to play 36 holes and/or just trade these in for the T200s.

The Pings give me the placebo of every strike being okay but never the near forged euphoria that these can give on certain short iron shots (really sweet!) Dispersion and distance on the G410s is always spot friggin’ on. Maybe I’m just an old Ping G-man who knows what each club will do as the T300 Distance is spot on as well, but does not yet have my confidence on certain lies and dispersion suffers a bit. Probably, with more time that will be good as well. I do prefer the feel of the Nippon AWT over the AMT Red by a large margin.

I think they looked very similar. The only thing I did notice about the T300 is that there was a little more offset than my 718 AP1 irons

These showed up on the porch today. I have had the AP1’s, blueprints, 410’s, CF16’s(my backup set now), have no issues shooting in 70’s with any of the irons, but I have to say these T300 feel And look really nice. I’ve seen in store, but to have in hand at home with grips you like and setup for you, they look amazing, can’t wait to take out tomorrow.

Very nice! 8 hdcp here and just got fitted for a set of these 4-W1 with Modus 105 S. I literally hit everything on the planet. I was down to full set of T300 or T200/T300 combo and with the way T300 already gets progressively smaller in the scoring irons, I just didn't see the point. And I'm a person who isn't averse to a little offset or chunkiness...

Finalists in oder for me were G410, T200, JPX 919 Forged. Liked the thinner sole and less offset of the T300 vs G410. Hit the T200 and T300 the same and didn't see the point of looking down at a smaller club. LOVED the feel of the JPX 919 Forged but vs the dispersion of the T300, wasn't even close.

Yeah I took mine out tonight to just feel them out I have not been in a dynamic gold shaft for quite a while I noticed I hit them pretty good off the tee but I was getting a lot of shots going right which it could be a lie I hope it’s not the shaft I went with the AMT black stiff, Plus it was really cold and windy but I’m going to have the lie check tomorrow and then play them side-by-side with my Callaway CF 16 if they don’t stand up I’m going to have to rethink what I want to do.

I hate to report this, but hitting in a bay and being fit from there is fine but I’m the sort of guy that hates mats, need to be on turf, so shafts, AMT Black did not work out. If, and this I have noticed, if I absolutely hit off mat good that club works on course for sure. That being said, I bought off a site that if first new set and don’t like from them, return in 45 days for 100% store credit. My new set coming cobra king forged tech black ATMOS graphite. I realized I really need graphite I was so sore after one round.

with my T300’s 5-W53 I have set wedges at 43, 48, and 53, then Vokey 56 and 60. Without that I would really struggle with my gapping.

while on paper it seems excessive, and despite what numbers are on the bottom of the clubs, I really treat the 43 as my 9 iron, the 48 as a PW, and the GW slot has really always been a mostly full swing club only for me... so the 53 set wedge works out fine. Goes about 115-120 for me. you would think a 56 Vokey would be too close to the 53 (before receiving and hitting them I was even thinking to bend the 56 to 57), but honestly the gapping isn’t as tight as i would even like. A lot of that I attribute to the design differences in the game improvement iron vs the blade wedge + my own inconsistency.

With the lofts of the longer irons the 4 iron at 20 degrees and +1/2” goes a country mile and is not something I am consistent enough with, so it’s out of the bag in favor for the wedges.

if I can improve next year on that the alternative setup I would consider is 53 set wedge (or Vokey) and Vokey 58 or 56 bent to 57.

I've had mine in play for about 6 months now, minus a two month Covid shutdown. The most recent previous irons were G700, G410 and JPX919 Forged. All played during 2019 season.

The T300 is the best of all the in my opinion. Better feeling and sounding than the PINGS. The JPX919 and the T300 are probably really pretty close in performance. And while most will say the JPX are far better looking, the T300 are not that bad looking at all.

I have the 5-GW. However, I just ordered the T200 in 8-P with the lofts adjusted slightly, just because :)
